Finishing up a Verti-Block retaining wall project using the CAT 304 and CAT 259. The Topcon RL-SV2S and Trimble Earthworks system make short work of the grade work there is to do...

Function meets Art……that’s what Sam does so well. He took a part of the landscape that was an eyesore and turned it into a thing of beauty. Our thanks to Sam for a job well done. My only complaint is that he gave Diesel all the bacon ! The remnants of hurricane Ida came through last week ,the acid test for the new French drainage system, it worked perfectly.

Just got done watching the video where you got the sv2s laser. I've been thinking of getting the larger topcon machine mounted receiver in the future, and maybe at some point a new laser with slope. I have a bosh laser now that doesn't have slope. when I did that drainage swell last year I walked down it every few feet and checked with grade rod to make sure it was going lower and then eyeballed the rest since actual slope wasn't important just as long as water went where I wanted, it turned out well. That Trimble earth works is pretty sweet as well...
@tristardiggin
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
Laser with slope makes a job so much easier to do. It takes out the guess work. And coupled with Trimble Earthworks it's a game changer. Once it is setup you don't have to get out of the machine. I'm hoping to add Trimble Earthworks to the D5 this year. I have a laser receiver to put on the stick of the 308 but it's no comparison to Trimble.
@tristardiggin
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
The job I did in Ringgold, installing a storm water system, was a great example of having a laser with slope. I had to fixed elevations and needed to dig a certain slope for those 2 elevations to meet. So I calculated the exact slope needed and programed the laser and Earthworks. The ditch came out perfect between the two elevations. Would have been extremely difficult for me to eyeball that dig...

@@tristardiggin Thinking of getting the large machine receiver that mounts to a pole, lsb200 I think is what it's called now, and probably build a pole mount that I could bolt to my dozer blade and maybe tractor bucket if I needed, and also get a magnet mount to be able to use it on an excavator. It's universal and I could slap it on a rental machine etc... That and a slope laser Would suit my needs for the occasional projects I do.

Great video! You do a good job explaining. Iam a town foreman up in Canada, we are purchasing a new excavator for town ditching. You mentioned if you had the twist wrist attachment and 7 grand you would have purchased a different model laser? I have ordered the twist / tilt bucket and would like to know what laser would be best for my application. Our excavator is a kubota 040-4? Thanks in advance !!

Thanks I appreciate that. I use a Topcon RL-H5A dual slope laser and it works great with the Trimble Earthworks system I have on the CAT 304. It is a programable slope laser. What I referenced in the video had to do with the Trimble Earthworks system on the CAT 304. Not sure how much you know about it but it is 2D grade control for the excavator. If I bought a tilting grade bucket I would also have to buy a sensor for the bucket which would work with Trimble Earthworks. Plus I would have to pay for them to install the sensor and program the computer to recognize it. Hope that made sense. If you want to email me your number I can give you a call to help you figure out what you might need. Tristardiggin@gmail.com Sam

Question, Could you of cut the middle section at 1.5% the way you did but then come back and cut between the wall and your 1.5% cut area with the 304 and set the earthwork system at 1.5% from wall to first center cut on both sides?
