I had the pleasure of facing this guy in ADCC Ontario earlier this year. Was a tough fight, as I'm only a 5'11 white belt, and he didn't even need to bend down to grab at my legs. I was lucky enough to get a somewhat of a "takedown" on him, but inevitably he won the match in the end. He was remarkably kind, and both him and his professor shook hands with me afterwards. Would definitely love to train, and eventually roll with him again especially after learning techniques from this video. Wonderful content as always Professor!

You're not supposed to bend and hook your leg in Uchi Mata. That, the lack of unbalancing and not controlling the opponent as you're falling completely screws up the throw and any position advantage you could gain.

biggest takeaway for me was that in a crucifix you can choke with either hand. seems so obvious now but for years i always try to get a 1on1 kimura grip and choke with my leg side hand, but firas shot the opposite arm after relenguishing the control grip and the guys chin was right there to scoop under. genius

If you step your inside hip in front of theres, pull up on your underhook arm and down on your collar tie arm, you can ween them down to the mat fairly easily. You can also go to uchi mata or throwby to the back.

Lots of valuable information in this rolling footage. One of our guys at the gym loves to do the uchi mata and we were discussing recently how to counter it ... And here you come along with the perfect answer summer sault with it or kosoto gake. Thank you. Do you have anymore videos about Stand Up and Uchi counters?
@benkenobi01
@benkenobi01 Жыл бұрын
You can slip an uchi mata and throw them at the same time with their momentum. Look up uchi mata sukashi. You can also stuff it with a kind of knee shield action with your near side knee pointing down and shin in the crook of their leg. But I don’t know if there is an official term for that, might just be a competition variant of sukashi. You can attack right off the stuffed uchi mata too of course.

Hey coach, I just wanted to say that I followed your advice regarding gi & no gi. I take 5 classes a week and lift 5 times a week in the morning. I have 2 nogi classes and 3 gi classes. Its cool because even in the gi, there is a lot of overlap with my coaches jj to nogi (another great thing to analyze, which I got from you). And after the nogi classes I roll, so it's rolling 2x a week. The other week I rolled with some ppl that started at the same time as me, they had only been doing gi the whole time. We also all got our first stripe together. So we rolled and I SOMKED EVERYBODY. I didnt loose a single round!! I felt like Neo from the matrix, they were SO SLOW!! Your advice is pure gold. Thank you so much, inshalla. Liebe Gruesse from Germany
