I keep both of my bikes (BMW GS1200 TE and Honda GL1100) in my garage. I had the garage built to my own specifications so that I could fit the car in (Golf Mk7), plus both bikes and still leave an area where I could have a workbench and tool storage section. The Honda is never used in the Winter months and traditionally I have used an old cotton sheet to cover the old girl with. This Autumn I invested in the Oxford Protex Stretch XL cover which fits the Honda like a glove. As you say in your video the bike is protected from dust and the almost inevitable marks that come with brushing by the bike when it sits in the garage. One final thing to mention regarding storage is that I always have a dehumidifier running in the garage to keep the moisture content of the air low. My garage was built with a double wall with insulation between, and this certainly helps keeps condensation to a minimum. Interesting video content Stuart - please keep them coming.

Hi Michael your garage sounds like a bike owners Dream! i agree with your views on using a dehumidifier they can be very useful where you have proper control over the atmosphere as you do. I think it would be fighting a losing battle in my garage though!

I have a garage and have always used a flannel sheet, but I may reconsider. Their indoor cover looks well made and is priced right. They have a US website :-)

hi Wayne yes very well made. used to be a UK firm only! good to see they have made it over the pond!

Great video Stuart (love getting caught with the hose-pipe!). I don't have a garage so like Paul Ongley my T120 lives in a purpose bought large shed. I have insulated it and taken great pains to make sure it is weatherproofed but it's still a shed. In the warmer months the bike is fine but come winter when not riding I have the pre-runner to the Stormex. I had considered the indoor cover but being in a wooden structure I wanted something a little thicker and protective. I've had my Oxford cover for a about five years and this is the third bike it is covered. In the spring I put it into the washing machine on a very low temp and add some water-proofer. Hang it out to dry on the line and then store back in the case. After five years it is still in great condition. Looking forward to Wed' video sir. All the best .....

Hi Paul, you shed sounds very well sorted. I did use an old cheap outdoor cover on my bike in the garage for a while last winter but i found it was trapping condensation on the bike, which is why i have switched to the indoor cover. have you found condensation to be a problem with the oxford cover? obviously condensation may be a bigger problem in a concrete garage than in an insulated wooden shed!
@hopgood0076 жыл бұрын
Hi Stuart, surprisingly yes. you would think the wood would allow some sort of breathing to take place but on some days when I have forgotten to use the cover the bike will be covered in condensation.More so if the bike has been put away warm after a ride home. I assume the heat draws the moisture in but it doesn't escape so easily. With the cover on the bike is always dry. Funnily enough it was worse on my Honda CB650F than it has been on the T120?
@stuartfillingham6 жыл бұрын
Hmm interesting! just thought it would be minimal in a wooden building ( fewer cold surfaces)but then i suppose if the bike is cold, and the air is moist it doesn't really make a difference! used to use an old out door cover but made no difference to condensation except it seemed to trap it there for longer!

I have had my Oxford cover just a year now and use it all the time as I do not have a garage. The only down side is all the tape is now coming off the seams. I am hoping I can obtain some tape and retape it myself.

Hi Stuart Never thought of a cover like Oxford stretch for the bike , I just put a old sheet over it ?. The oxford cover is a great idea the bike lives in a large shed when not being used . Thanks for that one, keep it up Stuart Looking forward to your pay day project . Regards Paul Looking forward to your pay day on the t100
@stuartfillingham6 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul Thank you, yeah never really considered an indoor cover myself until this year, think i might have to get one for the T100 as well! will save me loads of hassle in the long run. Pay project video has been filmed and is currently being edited!

So true this, my bike used to sit next to the dryer in the shed, till one day I caught my wife putting the laundry basket on the bikes seat , I now keep a king size duvet over it at all times

Was in the market for a new cover as my Rainex cover 5 years old and ripped . Look at the Stormex at N.E.C. Motorcycle Live yesterday they wanted £70 good old Ebay £48 ,so just goes to prove big shows not necessarily the most competitive on price.
@TheJamesvgnr3 жыл бұрын
Last two of the Stormex I had both leaked within weeks. Makes me despair,as there are few decent motorcycle covers out there,and I expected the Oxford one to deliver.

One of these indoor covers is definitely on my shopping list, so thanks for the low down Stuart. BTW I've now bought the Optimate 6, and currently working my way through charging all my leisure batteries. Not used it on the RT yet (she gets ridden once a week which I suspect keeps her charged). The '6' IMHO seems a sensible choice for the biker who has a number of needs for charging eg cars, caravan, electric fence etc. I'll be posting a review on my Back2TheBike channel when I've got some longer-term feedback. Not up to your 'Spielberg-esqe' filming standards though ;-)

Hi Stuart, up to now I always used a cotton bed sheet as a indoor cover , but I must say that in wintertime or rainy days the sheet feels a bit moist. What about the Protex strech? And why dit you shoose it instead of the Dormex Indoor? (witch is cheaper...)
@stuartfillingham6 жыл бұрын
its breathable so it does wick dampness away. i chose it because of the quality and the fit!

Hi Stuart: As a new T120 owner, I have enjoyed your entertaining and very informative videos. I am just getting back into riding after an extended absence (25 years)and have been reacquainting myself with some of the basic maintenance tasks. One topic I would be interested in seeing you cover for the T120, would be tire pressure maintenance. Trying to get a pressure gauge or air hose chuck in between the T120 spokes has been a challenge. Any future plans to discuss a good way to do that? I'm thinking that there has to be an easier way to get air into the tires other than bending the hose into the center of the rim. If not, maybe an evaluation of valve stem extenders and recommendation for pressure gauges that are accurate? Apologies if you have already covered that topic and I missed it. Regards!

Hi Stuart, the first thing I bought after getting my T120 back in July was a Protex Stretch dust cover, over here in Spain dust is a big problem and even thought he bike is kept clean, dust appears from nowhere. The biggest problem seems to be static electricity attracting dust, especially on the plastic front mudguard and side panels, but my Oxford Protex cover, bought on Amazon, does help, still waiting to see if it keeps the condensation at bay. Good video. Morgan
@stuartfillingham6 жыл бұрын
Hi Morgan thanks for your input! Condensation is your worst enemy in winter. i dont think the cover will stop it but the protex at least shouldn't make it any worse.
@mjh54372 жыл бұрын
Try using some anti-static acrylic glass (perspex) cleaner on the plastic parts of your bike Morgan.

Hi Stuart, great videos. Just wondering, what size cover would be suitable for a royal Enfield interceptor? Oxford outdoor.. Cheers!

Hey there, can you please tell me which size u bought for the interceptor ?

@dianaatenafreedlund55866 жыл бұрын
Do you have to wait for the bike to cool off before you put the cover on or is it heat resistant?
@stuartfillingham6 жыл бұрын
as with all coves Diana it would be sensible to wait until the bike has cooled off a little . although it does have heat proof panels.
@gotpkrgotpkr9 ай бұрын
Hi S?tuart, please for the interceptor should i get the medium stormex cover or the large

Looks like you chose a Large size for the T120 outdoor cover. Is that the recommended size?
@stuartfillingham6 жыл бұрын
Hi John yes i chose that size as it had to accomodate the T100 as well, which is a little bit longer. i think the medium might be a little too small.

They are great but the seams fall apart if you are using it all the time.I’m on my second one.

I laughed at the comparison to lingerie and sexualization of the bike during the stretch cover bit. Btw, what size is the cover you showed? Edit: It's a large, I see from another comment.
