Smigel was a true key element to the success of the Conan show. In the first years of Conan being on TV, Smigel was Conan's writer and came up with many of the first shows and skits.

When I was little I used to have reoccurring nightmares about an angry talking dog. I just realized, just this moment, that it was Triumph. They were pretty intense nightmares, too. I had problems being around dogs for years. I don't know how to take this realization.
