I got a leftover 23’ tiger with triumph panniers installed for a little less than $17k USD. It is an awesome bike with a lot of grunt. Factory settings on the front forks were a little spongy for me. Last ride, my son added four clicks to the two little black knobs on top of the fork tubes. Instantly the bike is able to zip through curves, using every bit of the tires. It is heavy, but I’ve dropped it accidentally in a parking lot and in my yard. I’m 57, and was able to pick it up by myself with not too much effort.

Apologies for the poor audio quality in this video. I've still got some kinks to iron out with my new desk set up. I'll get there with some better mic placement. Also, the rear shock DOES have rebound adjustment, my bad!

I upgraded to RP900 late last year from 7 years of KLR650 ownership, well worth the investment and bikes feel very similiar riding weight wise as KLR is top heavy. The rain mode works very well at limiting the 'instant massive torque' at low rpms, but power is still there the same if you are smashing the throttle open. A great all-round bike is my feeling.

Am just one month into mine (coming from a 650 Vstrom and previously a CB500X). I am finding wide bars a challenge but still not sure whether to change the bars, add risers or just rotate it backwards. 😅

Triumph doesn't know how to make a bad bike. I put 75,000+ miles in 5 years on an '05 T-100 and had no major problems. A number of friends have owned different Triumph models over the years and they all feel the same about them. I will be buying one again.

OMG Curtis I am late to the party - just got to finally sit down and watch this video! Awesome job by the way mate, reaslly well done! So, as I age gracefully and start my gradual decline to the sixties, I will most likely get rid of the Tenere. Looking at climbing into something a bit less dirt oriented and a bit more off-road touring bias, my final selection comes don to the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro and the Norden 901 (standard)....give me your thoughts big guy, as I am struggling to drive a Tally-ho paper beteen them!
@onthebackwheel

Hahaha good one mate. Tiger 900 RP for sure unless you get the Norden for a cracking price (which there are some really good prices ATM). The new RP is supposed to be a step up again

Was that "ktm parking only" sign new or does the ghost in your house not like ktm? Lol!. I know it's separate from the Triumph, but I loved what you said about the T7/Africa Twin. Kudos for your knowledge on the USA models! You have some big fans of yours over here across the pond in the USA. I am stoked to see you one day put an Africa Twin to the test! Any chance you're gonna create some t-shirts and stickers?? :D

I sat on the Rally Pro yesterday. Unless you are 5'10, don't waste your time. A lower seat will make little difference also. I'm not saying it is a bad bike, however if you're below 5'10 be prepared to change the suspension at about 2k.
@onthebackwheel
@onthebackwheel Жыл бұрын
I didn't find it to be an issue. Seat height is probably last on my list of things to consider personally, though a lot of definitely worry about it

So you flip the rear brake pedal over, takes seconds, rear shock has more adjustment underneath, side trims unbolt, rally pro everytime over at

How does it compare to the aprilia tuareg 660?
@onthebackwheel
@onthebackwheel Жыл бұрын
I'm going to do a detailed q & a vid with this question. Short answer, it's a bit bigger and harder to handle off road but better for longer trips
@glennbukac7533
@glennbukac7533 Жыл бұрын
I test rode the aprilia and the tiger as well as v85tt. They are all really good bikes. Aprilia light and nimble. V85tt shaft drive with bags, good looking, a bargain here in the states. Very few aprilia and moto guzzi dealers here. Have to go to dealer to reset service and faults. There are some after market diagnostic/reset tools avail for tiger. Tiger has long legs, comfort. Most expensive. I am coming from a 2014 KLR650. I have put on 10000miles in 2 yrs. Dirt, local and highway. Great for type of dirt I am doing, cheap, but really not fun on highway especially over 75mph. I was worried aprilia would be only marginally better on hwy vs KLR. I recently saw a video of aprilia top speed, and top speed of tiger, it's the same. I really wanted a lighter bike than KLR, aprilia and tiger carry their weight well. After friends with other triumph bikes talked great reliability, saw a bunch of videos of a guy flogging a tiger 800 off road for 3 yrs, only broke cosmetic stuff, I chose the tiger 900 rally pro , got a great deal on a used rally pro with upper bars panniers and top box. Great bike especially when it gets cold, comfortable, did some light off road. Did I make the right decision passing on the aprilia?
@onthebackwheel
@onthebackwheel Жыл бұрын
I personally like the Aprilia more as I like to ride off-road a lot, but the Tiger is a better bike for doing bigger trips which sounds like it might suit you better.

There is rebound damping on the rear shock, it makes a significant difference. There is also a "special" off-road suspension geometry for this bike that the GT line doesn't get, that you didn't use. See kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fs-dhKiXqcjSeKs.html

the biggest drawback with the Tiger 900 is that you will need to take it to the dealer to get the service spanner off the dash. why should Triumph hold me to ransom because I like to service my own bike. Nothing available on the internet that works either. Thumbs down Triumph.
