Hi Gadge, I started very slowly from the day I bought my TR7. But by bit first I upgraded the brakes suspension made sure all bushes and bearings are up to scratch, I kept using it and bit by bit gathered all parts I needed and most second hand. I do all work myself which is essential to keep the cost down. I don't know how much I spent but I am sure that over maybe 12 years it would accumulate to an amount that would have purchased me a new small sportscar. I recommend that you search in Facebook etc for Triumph TR 7 and 8 groups. All those groups are happy to let you join and the wealth of ideas, tricks, tips, information, parts for sale etc is almost endless. I.e. Triumph TR 7, Triumph wedge owners association, Triumph TR 7 owners page, international Triumph TR 7 and 8 spare part register and many more.

Curious if you still have the car? I have a 4.0 I will use to replace the original 3.5 and I'm wondering how you got the alternator to fit under the bonnet?

I lowered the subframe by 28mm with aluminium spacers and modified the alternator bracket so that the alternator swings deeper into the valley. I modified my own V8 sub-frame also as low as it gets with the original Rover Sump which only clears the steering rack by 5mm. I further placed spacers under the bonnet hinges just enough to raise it by an extra few mm to not have a excessive gap to the nose. I will take some pictures later and upload it for you. The alternator is still extremely close to the Bonnet but it works fine. Cheers Stefan
