The old tridents were quick road bikes for their time and had a sound that stirred the soul.

I have a friend who bought a genuine Rob North triple that had raced in England (while he was also racing over there) from the widow of the racer killed on it. He rebuilt it, and repainted it original racing colors, but because of ignorance of what they were looking at, when he brought it out to our local "Eurobike" show, (complete with "popular vote" format), it didn't even place in the "Race Bike" category. He's never going to "show" it again. I got to ride on it. EXHILARATING! Best ever!

Top stuff, thanks for posting, its great to see and hear what it would be like racing a Rob North triple. Some video of the bikes in the pits would be nice, so we can see more detail and relate to what bike and rider the video's from.

OMG This is great Stuff. Can you tell me are all the bikes triples or what and can you tell me about how you set up the camera?

I hope you've raced it on a real circuit => we almost can't wait till spring comes and the 2013 races will start. We race it now for more than 25 years and we can't get enough of the sound & exitement........

Great video. Almost feels like I'm on one! I really miss my T160 after seeing this. Are those Rob North machines really smooth? I noticed the camera wasn't bouncing very much.

Sadly, no, I never got to race it on a "real circuit". I got to ride it in the backroads of the "Hill Country" in Texas. This event was almost 20 years ago, and I have had four back surgeries since, and can no longer ride two-wheeled motorcycles. My friend would love to race again, but he has only recently gotten work back in the oil business, so he is concentrating on making money, so that he may one day race again when he retires. He still owns the Triple!

Too wide in the first (right turn) part of the raidillon, then you missed the apex on the top, and ran wide afterwards, loosing a lot of time. I've raced there for 10 years 24 hours races in the seventies and eighties.... fabulous noise when exiting la source downhill !
