Speaking of nukes I just saw a Crimson Tide reaction somewhere. USS Alabama was the sub in that movie and some doomsday drama. I was doing a quick comparison on numbers because trying to understand what we might see as a micro star used to vaporize people and just calling it a bomb doesn't convey the idea well enough imo. Comparing the sub nuclear payload to the ones dropped in WWII made them old ones look like firecrackers. Now the numbers. The biggest dropped on Japan, 21 kt and no more city. Alabama with 475 kt X 8 X 24. Maximum eight warheads on twenty-four missiles. As zedwpd was saying there are treaties that slightly reduce the firepower but don't think about it more than look good politics that do nothing. A quick look up and in 1994 14 Ohio class, like the Alabama in that movie, were deemed sufficient for US strategic needs as ballistic missile submarines. New ones got probably 12 warheads instead of eight, treaty loss of 4 missiles a sub, but stick with the weaker Alabama for all including the treaty loss and calculate it. Just that class of nuclear sub and there goes the world maybe two and a half times over if they all launch. Add in other sub types that may have nukes, land based ICBMs, Air Force. Then the US getting Skynet bots to be damn lazy and automate Armageddon, well it's no wonder as even some people are like it's a damn waste not to use them. Even US politicians saying they will use them on us just to steal our guns. Nukes are now so big they more along the lines of the craziest deterrent you could ever imagine, like if a criminal robs your house you set the city on fire so nobody escapes.

"Last Action Hero" (1993) was actually the first film to eclipse the $100 million budget mark. I know because I worked on it and the press was going nuts that so much was being spent on a movie. Because of the budget alone, the film was universally panned before anyone even saw one frame of it. Just two years later, another film I worked on completely obliterated those numbers and was scorched by the press for the same reason. That was "Waterworld," which supposedly climbed up to about $240 million. It held the record until "Titanic" came along.

What was incredible was a true hero of the story: a young man, who wouldn't give up his friend for some cop asking questions, the one that was lying to the cop (Tim): played by Danny Cooksey. Now... that is a story ;)

There was a story going around that they brought almost every actress in Hollywood in to see if they could be made up to look like Linda and never finding one. Then, one day, Linda said "Hey, you guys know I have an identical twin sister, right?" It's probably not true but it's a fun story all the same.

There is another scene on the extended version that has Sarah removing Arnold's cpu chip in front of a mirror. It was really cleverly done. It wasn't actually a mirror. Just glass.

It's sad that her twin sister died 2 two years... Can't imagine losing a sister, let alone your twin sister.

The security guard getting coffee is also apparently a twin, when his identical sneaks up behind him

@@johnsensebe3153 True, but the novelization of movies are based on early versions of the script. Some things change as the script is revised later, by which point the novel is already written. In the forward to The Abyss' novelization, the author, Orson Scott Card, talks about this.

The music that plays as Sarah gets into position outside Miles house is the Terminator theme.

Sarah's realization is the most important moment in the movie and is what makes her so great. For me it's what makes her such an icon.

Extremely rare that a Part II is all that good let alone fantastic. Matter of fact, The Godfather Part II is the only second part that ever won Best Picture Oscar in the history of film making.

Nope. Cannot agree. First is WAY better. Was a perfect example of where more is a LOT less. A tweak in the opening narrative to explain the many goofs & a bit more danger & even some horror, maybe it would have worked. First is number one for me.

I am not sure about your 'combine lava with liquid nitrogen'-answer. You see, energy on the most base level is nothing other than a difference in entropy (see maxwell's demon). Lava and liquid nitrogen is a quiet big difference in state of entropy, therefore the power resulting from it is quiet high (sure it depends on few other factors - like how dispersed both materials are (increasing surface area) ). But if its fast enough nitrogen goes into gasform immediately, which could be like an explosion scattering fine lavadroplets like gunbullets everywhere. But again - only because i can question your answer doesnt mean my answer is right. Because another effect also can be - and thats quiet a non-spectacular effect: see, if you put liquid nitrogen on your skin, also like i said the surface of that liquid evaporates immediately - but this also stops the evaporation (or better said: regulates it -and then the droplets simply are floating above your skin (like a hovercraft) ), and the surface below is quiet safe from the cooling effect of the liquid (that is demonstrated in many videos on KZfaq). In conclusion: tricy blues question was smarter than you think - because the answer isnt as easy as you think. A lot of factors have to be considered. Its really not easy. Even if we put aside your words ''it depends on the proportions'' ( sure: only one drop of liquid nitrogen on a pool of lava , isnt spectacular). But like i said: even if we put that aside, its a very hary hard question of trixy blue.

@@PygmalionFaciebat don't know about nitrogen and molten metal but I know for a fact that if molten metal hits water too fast you get an explosive reaction. Once worked at a smelter were the old guys talked about have a breakaway of molten metal when the place first opened. They got told to grab the fire hoses to spray it down and cool it off. The water hitting the metal at pressure caused it to explode (and they are very loud). Apparently a good part of the work crew were running for the gate just after.

I liked salvation, also the going through bars effect still stands as good quality to this day

@@mlee6050 I think it was a bit so-so because it became a predictable (I knew from the multiple times Marcus walked away of things that could easily destroy a human being completely unscathed he was a cyborg, the no. 1 target on the list was Kyle Reese, the moto-terminators would be somehow easily trapped to become regular transport vehicles, etc.), T3 and TS broke with almost all the rules in the lore marking the beginning of the downfall for the franchise (the T-800 John faces is overpowered for nothing as it can withstand multiple grenade launcher impacts without harm, be bathed in molten metal and frozen immediately without ANY damage to its internal circuitry which is ridiculous, and the most it does is toss John around a couple times), unnecessary characters (Star & Ashburn) and has a very ilogical and strange ending (Marcus giving his heart to John and being operated in the middle of the desert without ANY compatibility issues and perfect status when the heart received a big blunt force trauma that temporarily killed Marcus, got shocked multiple times to be resucitated and all this with no damage at all)... So, in my view, they could have done a much better job. But if you compare it to the disasters that were Genesys and Dark Fate, then yeah, it is likeable. Have a good one!

My girlfriend was once wounded in the leg by a 7.62x39 bullet. She described it as a blow with a hot crowbar and a rapidly growing pain that literally knocks off feet. Probably, this well shows the difference in the impact on the body of a pistol bullet and a rifle one.

@@yuriistetsenko5948 The bullet that I was hit by was a 9 mm and it was a ricochet, which explains why it broke up into five pieces as it hit me (upper thigh). The suspect immediately surrendered as soon as he emptied his clip. Weirdly, only a month later, I was stabbed just a 1/4 inch from the bullet wound. The blade snapped off in my thigh (and had to stay in until I was in the E.R.). I was stabbed by the buddy of a much larger suspect I was fighting at the time. The buddy was cold cocked by my partner and got a skull fracture/concussion. The larger guy actually got an additional charge (added by the D.A.) because of his buddy.

At this point, I think Terminator Dark Fate is the next one to watch... am I wrong? I know there are reasons to watch in order, but that's just how I feel about it.

@@RedmoonIndustries To be fair, this movie was (would be) the perfect ending for the terminator storyline, the others were just unnecessary continues like the Saw series. Im afraid she might jump in with too high expectations.

I am so glad that they decided to stop here. This movie ended perfectly and the world is now safe. It would have made me really sad if they had continued on with cheap cash-grab shark-jumping sequels and negated everything that this movie accomplished. So glad that they didn't do that.
