⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 That was a sixteen year old Su. : ) She premiered the song the night before, at Budokan Red Night. Rondo is easily in my top ten BABYMETAL songs. Su performed three solos that night. She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set. Yui and Moa (as Black BABYMETAL) did two songs without Su ('4 no Uta' and 'Onedari Daisakusen'), and they performed a bunch of songs together. That Black Night Budokan concert from March 2014 is still one of my favorite BABYMETAL concerts. Not only is Su brave enough to sing and dance on a tiny elevated platform in the dark, but she is also fearless enough to follow those Kami Band solos.

What never ceases to amaze me is the age of Moa, Su and Yui, when they performed so many absolutely epic shows. I understand some metal purists hate BabyMetal but I would like to see many of the bands that fit what they consider to be metal, keep it together to match BabyMetal for the ten years they have been performing. Welcome back to the Foxhole.🦊🤘🔥 As you can see this is not the usual happy BM song. One of the many songs composed by YuppeMetal (aka Yuyoyuppe), he's also behind "Karate", Kagerou, the arrangements of Megitsune and more new songs from latest album like Monochrome and Believing. _"Akumu No Rondo"_ (or Rondo Of Nightmare) combines not only heaviness with dark waltz and dope time signatures changes but also delicate and fragile elegance that makes you want to grab your inception kit and go to rescue this 16 yo queen from this nightmare. Temporarily title song was "Kill The Alice" so it is like Alice but instead of Wonderland she's trapped in a nightmare trying to escape and avoid some evil entity. Rondo is a musical form in which you can hear a repetitive pattern, an example of this could be the song "Blue Rondo a la Turk". The Kami Band is doing their second magnificent intro of the night with their own set called "Mischiefs Of Metal Gods". They become regular after this special live at Budokan 2014 and leaving baby-bones, from early shows, behind, shout-out to them thou. You already know some of them from your previous reaction, such Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums, this time Leda Cygnus is the first guitar. This was the day (night) after the first live premiere of this song and she's dancing and performing like she already did a dozen times before, like a pro. Also she's showing some fierceness here dancing on that high dangerous mini stage with no wire and that's how she keeps winning everyone's heart. But not everything was perfect here despite their impeccable performance and sound, and the day before the girls face that dangerous challenge on the stage, taking their own revenge after coming back in 2021 to celebrate their 10 years and leaving those ghosts behind, fortunately. Like i said, YuppeMetal is the one behind this song and he took inspiration from "Protest The Hero - Bloodmeat" song, of course i recommend you to hear that blaster song. Thanks for sharing this wonderful SuMetal solo and my favorite along with "Akatsuki" (live at Budokan 2014 is another great choice) The other solos are great too and those are: - No Rain No Rainbow live at Legend S 2017, heavily blocked thou. - Amore live at Wembley Arena 2016. My favourite performance of the song ❤🤘🦊🔥 It is hard to believe that this was only the second time they performed that song live (it premiered the night before). Btw all the Kami band members get a lot of love and respect from the fans, since we all know that they are an essential part of Babymetals success. And they have huge respect for each other. The girls because the Kamis early on took such good care of them when they were teenagers and the Kamis because Babymetal gave them the chance to tour worldwide and play in front of so many people. During their recent US tour Babymetal was supported by the westerns Kamis and they gave them each a little solo before.

Of all the crown jewels, this is one of the most dazzling.

I acted a damned fool the entire concert, but the tired doesn't hit you until later when the adrenaline wears off. It's all over too soon, but I don't think I could have survived a longer set. :p

Great reaction. The Budokan 2014 concerts were where the Kami Band finally became the full time support for BABYMETAL at all live concerts. Before then the Kami Band were being phased in gradually for about 18 months playing at a couple of festivals and playing only the encores in the shows where they were present. Before October 2012 BABYMETAL had performed exclusively with pre-recorded instrumentals on backing track. They had managed to establish themselves and to gain their own audience, they levelled up when they added the Kami Band and from these shows on having the Kami Band playing at every live concert legitimised the whole concept for when they started touring abroad - which they started to do after the Budokan shows. The Budokan is a martial arts arena originally built for the 1964 Olympics, but now also one of the most prestigious arenas for music concerts, it is where all Japanese (and many foreign) artists aspire to play - think Carnegie Hall or Madison Square Garden levels of prestige. This was early March 2014, BABYMETAL became the youngest average age female band ever to headline at the Budokan - Su was just 16, Yui and Moa still only 14. They sold it out 2 nights running. They were back again in 2021 playing 10 more concerts as a big part of their 10th anniversary celebration. There aren't many singers would dream of following 'The Mischiefs of the Metal Gods' intro ... 16 year old Su-metal did and she took over the whole arena as soon as she rose up from beneath the stage - as you said "like a Boss". The Kami Band at Budokan Black Night were Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura (guitars), BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). They had another instrumental intro that night for another song as well ... look for 'Catch Me If You Can' live at Budokan Black Night.

This song is a masterpiece. This is the eastern Kami's. The West kami's have solos for live versions of Kagerou and I was lucky enough to hear the kami solo live for Metali intro. They are insanely talented. 🦊🔥🦊🔥🦊

This is one of the songs that I am longing for their revivals by New BABYMETAL with her matured voice."Rondo" is a musical form with a recurring leading theme. I can't tell how many times I have viewed this video. It is literally a rondo of happy dream for me. Kamis' (=Gods') super solos were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen (as of 2014) emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently with her performance then turned Kami Band's plays into a ritual to summon her. Eastern (Japanese) Kamis have a long history with BABYMETAL. The 3 girls once said like "We feel we have been protected all the time by Kami band" and Kamis said "The girls took us to stages in the world, outside of Japan. We have nothing but gratitude towards them". The good relation between Kamis and BABYMETAL remains intact.

Great reaction again, thanks! The instrumental intro, "Mischiefs of the Metal Gods", is perfect to show every Kami Band member's skills. And it serves to summon Su-metal who finally emerges from the depths ... well, at least from the bottom of the stage. 😁 This is the only intro song which has a name but they have several other songs with an intro when they perform them live such as "Catch me if you can", "YAVA!". "Awadama Fever", "Kagerou" and more recently "METALI!". "Rondo of Nightmare" is probably their darkest song lyrically. It's about Su being trapped into an endless nightmare, without any chance to escape, where she's chased by a dark entity as she tries to run away and hide. Finally she asks the entity to reveal its real nature before giving up. This was just the second time they performed it live (the first one was just the previous night at the same venue) and Su-metal, being 16 at the time, was standing by herself on a relatively small and elevated platform, without any safety and probably not being able so see a thing due to the spotlight. This is so freaking metal! This is one of what we call Su-metal solos. She has four of them. The others are: "Akatsuki", "No rain no rainbow" and "Amore". The "rondo" in the name refers to the musical refrain form. The typical feature of any rondo is the return to the main theme after each digression giving the song a dark feeling of moving in circles without any possible way out. You'll be surprised. You'd think you won't have the stamina. But they feed you the energy throughout the concert, and before you know it, it's over, and then you're sleeping like a baby at home.

I understand the sentiment behind what might be called Team Babymetal. Originally Babymetal, back in the Sakura Gakuin days at least didn’t have a live band. Then the Eastern Kami band was added. They are highly respected by many of the female musicians you have already reacted too. Actually, if memory serves me correctly, Midori from Lovebites spoke, or helped at the funeral service for Babymetal’s Mikio Fujioka. She also attended the same music school that both Mikio Fujioka and Takayoshi Ohmura instructed at. Back to topic, there have been other musicians that have substituted in with the Eastern Kami’s and they all have other projects. The Western Kami’s were added later, primarily for overseas tours (originally). In short, Babymetal is better with a band, but the individual musicians could be thought of session artists, or similar to a symphony. Please don’t misunderstand me. The women love and support the Kami’s and both Kami’s love and support the women. However, Babymetal is only promoted and marketed as the three women.

Hell yeah man, great reaction! This is definitely one of my favorites, but I could say that about many Babymetal performances. A dark and heavy song about our protagonist being chased by an unseen monster in the woods in a repeating/rondo of nightmare, until she finally gives in and is captured, begging for the monster to show itself (light cage/marionette segment). All the musicians and Su’s voice is just epic! Also, you are absolutely spot on regarding stamina: back then, they did ~90 minute shows with 13-15 songs per show. Luckily, Su gets 2 solos, and Yui/Moa gets 2 Black Babymetal songs w/o Su, so everyone gets to take a break (maybe to catch up on some homework? Since they were 16/15 back then Lol). Suggestions: 1). Road of Resistance - Official from Babymetal’s channel: Epic power metal anthem 2015 show closer, with guitars co-written by Dragonforce. 2). iine! - Official Music Video (“ee-nay”, trans: so good!): Ultimate “WTF” factor, and Babymetal’s 2nd song ever, so they were extra smol and adorable. 🤘🦊

Regarding what you said about getting a workout just by watching the show - it's definitely true, and I thought that was funny when I saw them last night in Stockholm. I have a smartwatch with a pedometer, and it's set to a target of 12000 steps per day. When I got onto the floor at the concert I happened to see that I was only at 9000 steps that day because I usually walk in the evenings - but before the concert was over it told me I had reached my goal. And that's funny because I never moved from my spot. Sure, 3000 steps isn't a lot when just walking somewhere normally, but it counted those steps while I didn't move a meter in any direction :) That does say something about how much you're jumping and bouncing while listening :) And I know you've said that you'd really prefer to see them live at one of the huge venues in Japan where they have all their equipment and crazy stage setup, but I would say that a smaller venue is just as good even if it's in a different way. In a smaller place you can often get closer to the stage and see their boundless energy. I've only seem them live twice, but that's been my main takeaway. They are so full of energy and just so happy to be performing and interacting with the audience. Seeing the huge stage show would be a lot of fun, but just seeing them being happy with the audience is a fantastic experience :) And yeah, like you said, the choreographed dancing must take so much energy - but even so I feel like they really run and jump around more than is required by the choreo, so I think that really shows how much they enjoy doing these shows :) Even though they're doing their set almost every night right now. Imagine having the energy to travel from country to country and do that sort of show nightly and still show up smiling and bouncy, it's quite amazing.

This is the eastern Kami band, and i absolutely miss the face paint version. They switched to masks with the addition of the western Kami band (US and Europe shows), I guess to keep all looking alike. Its just not the same without their facial expressions. "KAGEROU" is another good one with the western Kami band intro. Anthony Barone is an absolute BEAST on the drums

Totally agree: Without Babymetal probably none of us would know the eastern Kamiband and as you stated vice versa (i GUESS i heared the kamis say that too, but not 100% sure). And this performance of Su? Four HEAVY goin musicians slap the faces and then comes little (sorry, never call them "smol") Queen Su and conquers this famous venue. This isn't the first/only time they allowed the Kami's to open a song. There are Kami openers for at least 5 other songs. "Yava","Kagerou","Metali", " Catch Me if You Can", " Awadama Fever". You can find a good selection of vids for them on "For The Fox God" Channel.

Kami band means God band, god of drums, etc. We love the guys almost as much as the girls/young ladies and we love seeing their solos. 🙂 But as the performance shows their is 1 voice at the center. Yes, the solos exists in large part to give the ladies a break. The Su-metal solo and Black Babymetal songs are also to give each other a break. Shortly after I became a fan, after seeing this performance I went from fan to: "have to see them live, bucket list item"-fan.

Member of the Kami have their own band outside BabyMetal. Established musicians in their own right. Currently, members of the Kami Band touring BabyMetal are Western Kami. While BabyMetal is BabyMetal even with the rotating member of the Kami Band.

Love watching the drummer Hideki in this, when the camera pan to him in the beginning, he looks like he's just casually drumming and not responsible for the machine like pounding in the background with the double kicks. Most singers might get intimidated having to follow the spectacular performance by the Kamiband, but 16yr old Su just gets up there, and shows you why Babymetal was built around her. 🤘🦊🤘

I love this live release because you get a bit more love for the band in the opener and the actual track, aside from Su piercing your soul with her voice, whips up the essence of a sweet dark lullaby. The performance just does the song total justice.

OK... I've heard it way, way, WAY TOO many times over the yrs how the Kamis didn't get the respect, recognition... they deserved, & how often they got overshadowed by the Girls, etc, etc... The Reality IS the Kami band were always the hired guns! Contract Session// Studio Musicians. PERIOD! That said, I always hoped beyond hope they would be made Official fulltime, Babymetal members! East Kami Members here in solo order : Leda Cygnus Takayoshi Ohmura BOH Hideki Aoyama During this time there were 3 guitarists (the other being Mikio Fujioka) that would rotate due to them doing other projects. The West Kamis are good.. But not this level. Unfortunately this song hasn't been performed since 2017.
