It feels like all of Motorcycling Land has wanted Triumph to make a modern litre version of the Daytona for the best past of a decade, and the Speed Triple 1200RR is the closest we're going to get. So what's it actually like to ride on the road? Is it too extreme? Could you run it as an only bike? Find out all this and more… by watching with your eyes. Thanks!

we can't even dream of it anymore due to the increasing prices and tax burden, but we can hardly&barely even buy the bicycle... but we can still watch it, which is a pleasure... awesome machine

You're going to love it. Picked mine up about a month ago; Red Hopper. I spent the first few weeks simply admiring it. A beautiful bike put together exceptionally well offering top shelf performance. Coming from a 2016 ZX10R (which I kept), the 1200 RR offers it all.

Yes! A speed triple with Ohlins active suspension please. Or just fit high bars to this one, and a double bubble screen.

Great video… I made the change from the 1050 to the 1200rs and you are right about the sound. I do miss the burble of the twin underslung arrows! However I’ve now got a machine that is 100% insane fun and while the exhaust sound kinda sucks that induction noise is addictive… While I do miss my weighty 1050 it does feel a bit ‘grandad’ compared the the pure hooligan 1200! As for the RR.. Nah, I preference the Naked!

I'm hoping that eventually when more full exhaust systems become available for the RS and RR the sound will be much more satisfying.

Test ride RR at local dealer and was really underwhelming. Gearbox was super clunky when putting into first and then spongy up and down the box with a weird inability to get into neutral. Then went for a ride on a 1290 SD R and wow it was like being an orange 🍊 stick of dynamite 🧨 in comparison 😄

Base tuna v4 video can't come soon enough, there you get to confirm it's the perfect bike for me since 890 R would be uncomfortable for longer distances, so would sfv2 which is also too expensive for what it is, gixxis gt probably has too much touring and not enough sport and character with it's extra weight and i4 (your review of that should be coming soon as well). I could also get a slightly used sdr (we don't get the new SD GT in the states, and the old one felt too massive to me) for base tuono money, and then stick a windscreen onto it if I want to go for a longer ride 🤔 the deals on ZH2 SE seem to be pretty decent since nobody wants to buy them at MSRP, more weight and comfort there with entertaining supercharger noises, mt10 is too hideous, there are also great deals on Turismo veloces, but mv agusta ownership scares me when the closest dealer is six hours away or so.

So for all the reviews I've seen on this bike kind of skip over the most important part about the bike it's not just the electronically adjustable suspension that comes on them. When you dig into the settings it's so customizable. Of course you have your normal five settings rain ,road, sport ,track, Rider. But you get to adjust + 5 to - 5 engine braking, +5 to -5 acceleration support +5 to -5 cornering support. And then after all that you have three manual suspension settings you set up just like the 1200RS but with buttons instead of a screwdriver that you can save to the onboard computer and switch to it anytime like say a suspension setting for track1 suspension setting for track two and a third suspension setting for your favorite twisty road all at just a push of a button. And then the way the brakes work is never touched on like if you have it in track mode it'll let you lock up the back a little bit to back it into a corner. Or if you're pressing the front brake with progressive pressure to the point of a stoppie it will allow it without the ABS intervening but if you panic break the ABS save you from going down. To me it's without a doubt the best motorcycle I've ever ridden as a kind of do it all sport bike.

Would you think the suspension would be good on the RS and worth the big increase in cost vs the RS manually adjusted for a softer setting for road use only. I have good roads here and find once i find a good setting i stick with it, sure there are times when you find crap roads but thats not often where i ride.

I've got a 1050 RS Triple. I still don't pin the throttle. It scares the life out of me. Maybe I should really get a 350cc Enfield ! So yeah, as much as I think this looks like a stunning bike , that I'd love to own, it's almost certainly wasted on me, and I'd be wasting a lot more cash. I guess I'll just go down to my local Triumph dealers and dribble uncontrollably instead. The reality for me is also , I'm about 20 years older than you are . I just can't handle sports bike riding position. As you say , if they put the electro whizzy suspension on the naked, or may just my a faired variant like this with higher bars and pegs not as far back, that would suit me more. But I still don't have the cash ! How you don't have a bucket load more subscribers and views still beats the hell out of me ! ( I said that about a year ago) Maybe get in with TMF, Lamb Chop Rides and blag some more viewers !

@@timrodierides yes you can't please everyone, it's an opinion and yours. Just the wording is used to often 'accessible road power' does this mean put it in rain mode so you can use all of it but then the bike gets a hard timeas is because it isn't the same bhp as other superbikes. Or put it in sport and use as much as you want or need via the wrist. I've owned the Tt600, tripple 675 Daytona, 1050 RS speed and now the 1200RR. It's all preference. Personally the front wheel was way to easy to flick up on the RS 1050 and made it hard work in first gear, but excellent grunt in 2nd coming out of corners on track. It got a hard time people saying it was under powered compared to the market. It did however lack top end on the straights, probably better of the two as a pure road bike. The 1200RR I absolutely love, the styling is a thing of beauty but preference although it grew on me more and more after time. Loads of manageable low end grunt and the gearing is much better than the 1050. Put some clip on risers it would be the best bike of all of them personally.

Tried one of these out - loved the 'idea' of it - sort of a 'classy' sports bike, but the body position is ridiculous - I'm a weight-lifter in my 30s, not an old fella in my fifties, and I found this ride just unreasonably uncomfortable. I ended up with a 950S SuperSport from Ducati - even with the full Akrapovic race system, it cost less, is still fast, and is strikingly good looking (even if it gives up 60hp). For what the 1200RR costs? I'd really get a BMW or Ducati sports bike instead. A shame, and a miss by Triumph; I also own a 2020 Speed Twin and do love that one - I think Triumph just does retros better. Maybe they're just too far removed from making sports bikes to get it right?
