I have one of these and have owned for over 10 years now. I have a number of other more expensive, higher end guitars, but for whatever reason always come back to this one. I also like the look of it now that it's somewhat road worn. These age in a cool way, imo.

I have the brown version. Still one of my best guitars. They actually have a mahogany top and came with burstbucker pro pickups.

I played one of these in a Guitar Center, and I absolutely fell in love with it. It was so amazing to play, and for only about $800 or so, but alas, I didn't have the money at the time and lost it to another person. In fact, I loved it so much that I am now looking for one for myself. Maybe one day I'll own one myself.

I have the same from 2006. I bought it off a guy on Craigslist for $600 cash. A total steal if you can find one. Mine has Burstbuckers making me think it was a Musicians Friend Studio "Vintage Mahogany" run. Mahogany top, body, unbound neck, Great guitar...

There is a difference between the Gloss Studios and the Faded/Worn Studios. The Faded comes with Burstbucker Pro pickups, the Gloss comes with the 490s. Hard to understand why Gibson put the same pickups that went into their top of the line Les Paul into the Faded Studios.

I 💖 my 2008 Les Paul, and looks identical to that one, but original pickups and no wear. I played it in my church's band for a few months. Made sure I didn't sweat on it... In 2023 it sounds and looks amazing. For $700 bucks on sale can't go wrong.

Great video. I have the same model. Got it back in 2007 and had it since. The neck feels amazing and the light weight is nice. In my opinion it has a nice crisp treble tone that I love. My neck and body finish is showing some of that faded worm down look to it as well so that gives it a nice touch

I've owned 3 of these.. Great gig guitars... Sounds and Plays just like a more expensive Les Paul but 1/3 of the price (used)... don't have to worry as much about them getting damaged or stolen while at a gig as compared to your LP Standard, TRAD, Classic, Custom, Vintage etc.....

I have the 2005 version Gibson Faded Les Paul studio Red with the Mahogany top it took me forever to set it up now it sounds great with the Burstbucker Pro pickups was gonna replace the Nut with Tusq version but the neighborhood tech F-it up so just gonna leave it as it is, at first I thought the slim taper neck was too small now I'm used to it.

I found one of these completely whole in the garbage in Florida.. it was a 2006.. someone had obviously dropped it.. it had broken right below the headstock but was still attached by the plastic or whatever is on the face of the headstock.. I'm a decent woodworker so I wet it, glue it and clamped the crap out of it.. no wood was missing at all somehow..I mixed up some stain and the repair was pretty much undetectable..I played it when I sold it to a guy off Craigslist..I told him what I had done and still got 500$ for it in about 2011.. it had burstbucker pros..I almost didn't sell it when I heard it.. man I loved the sound but hate the way les Paul's usually play.

how much would a used studio set someone back? and, what difference in performance is there compared to a l.p. standard? are they better than the epiphone clone?
@Trog
@Trog 6 жыл бұрын
Most Used studios vary from 450-700 depending on the model (some are more expensive depending on specs) and if you're buying from a store or craigslist guy. Studios are very good guitars, they are bare bones rockers. They play well and are great for a gigging musician. A Les Paul standard is a completely different feeling guitar and feels and looks more 'professional'. They have binding on the neck which you might like or not. I would advise you to go to your local guitar store and try a few out. While the standards are very nice guitars, sometimes it is nice to have a studio. You don't have to worry about it getting all dinged up. 90s studios are excellent guitars. As far as an epiphone comparison - they will feel very different since they use different finishes. Epis are good guitars too if you don't wish to spend more than $300. If you need help finding a les paul, feel free to email or facebook troglyzeburninater@yahoo.com facebook.com/troglys

I have about a gnote to spend, but I really want an l.p. with an ebony fretboard, I just like the way they play... or sound better, imo. ideally I would like to keep it around 750, in the hopes of getting one that is in good playable shape, you know, under a hundred thousand miles, lol...

In the early 2000's, when I bought most of my guitars, I used to look at these in the guitar shops all the time. I realised that getting the faded studio was about the only way I was going to get a US Les Paul, but I just didn't like the finish on them, I thought it looked really cheap, and made it look low end. I've started looking at LP's again over the last year or so, IDK I think the current tributes look better than the faded studio. TBH I'm still not too sure how I feel about not pulling the trigger and getting the faded studio, I sort of wish I had, just to have an US LP, but...I think what I didn't like about the faded studio, was the way you could see the wood grain, It reminded me of the really cheap Melody Makers, that were around at that time, ultimately that's what stopped me.

In the used market, sometimes people will keep the original pickups for themselves when they sell the guitar because they like them and they put something else in. There isn't anything wrong with most aftermarket pickups though.

Just want to say I have this exact guitar with the Gibson book explaining this guitar. You are wrong about the top of this guitar. It is all mahogony with a rosewood fret board. NOT a maple top like most Les Pauls. He has stated in this video that this guitar has a maple top. NOT TRUE. All mahogony.....back and top!! Great guitar that comes with burstbucker pro pickups.

@@dimitrisaivaliotis5616 I play all sorts of music with this guitar, including hard rock. Very versatile guitar if they are set up properly. Coming from the factory, I did not like the set up, so I set it up myself, the way I like it. Whatever type of music you are playing, make sure you have the right amp/pedals to achieve your sound. I love this guitar and would put it up against any other Les Paul out there. Great guitar. Hope this helps.
