Imagine those Covenant ground forces are shocked by the endless numbers of Troopers/ODSTs coming in as they're killing each one and another

I absolutely love this. It really gives a feel for what it would be like to fight methane-breathing turtles, eagle-eyed dinosaurs, samurai alligators, space gorillas and wormy juggernauts while just being a normal human being.

Watching you flail around trying to kill Elites as a group makes me think of that one Trooper from the beginning of Long Night Of Solace, the one who kicks the body of an Ultra Elite with a sword, with the implication that he killed it himself.

One of 343's (or Bungie's) missed opportunity is to make a Halo game where you play as a marine or a trooper within the UNSC, going in missions alongside other marines, ODSTs, and even Spartans. On the other hand, there's a possibility that it may look like and feel like another COD game. Nevertheless, it's still an interesting concept.

This mod makes you grateful for what you have as a Spartan. The shields and speed really matter.

It’s funny how for a good chunk of this you guys are just goofing off. Then occasionally you’ll work together as a coordinated team where each person fills a specific role (someone acting as a distraction, using plasma to drain shields so the others can finish the Elites, flushing out enemies with grenades, and other stuff like that) and move cautiously increasing the survival rate. Having a big group definitely looks fun. I really hope that we one day get mods on console so I can play this with my friends/cousins. That would be really fun.

I think we all would love a game where you play as an Army Trooper during the events of Reach. If you thought ODST had good atmosphere and feeling, just wait for a Reach Trooper experience. Honestly, a fun idea would be the Halo Reach Realism Rebalance mod + the Halo Reach Trooper campaign mod, so that your weapons actually do damage, that would be nice if we can't get an actual game from 343 as a normal human.

It's cool to see how much more tactical you have to get playing as an ODST or marine. Also darky comical to see the amount of dead marines lying around whenever you guys win a battle.

I was so proud watching you guys progress it went from blindly firing around corners and dying. To compact and intelligent plans, saturating areas with gun fire, focusing fire, and covering each other, and then dying but that is a given. Great video

Honestly would be an amazing idea for a Battlefront / Battlefield style Halo game where you start as a trooper and acquire points to unlock ODST, Spartans, better weapons etc. If only 343 had as much vision as the fans do

This is what Halo 3 ODST should’ve been in terms of gameplay. ODST is probably my favorite Halo right next to 2 because I really liked how it told the story from the perspective of normal humans. There were also a lot of little details that immersed you into the world and made you feel like a normal guy. Unfortunately, in terms of gameplay it was basically just diet Halo 3 where you could do a lot of the same things as Chief, just worse. It should’ve been a tactical shooter like this. “Stealth” was also basically nonexistent because the silenced weapons weren’t actually quiet. Bungie also kind of dropped the ball by not having us fight Elites for the first half/two thirds of the game, with Brutes appearing at night and in the last chunk of the game. Imagine just how awesome it would’ve been if we could’ve experienced the Great Schism from the perspective of normal humans. They wouldn’t have had to make any major changes to the story. Just have the Brutes show up to reinforce the Elites then towards the end of their introduction or halfway through the next mission they’d go Order 66 on the Elites. Then the squad would’ve used the ensuing chaos as the perfect opportunity to collect Virgil and escape the city. They also didn’t really do much to make the lesser Covenant (Drones, Jackals and Grunts) feel like your equals/close lessers. I liked how they gave the Brutes shields, but they still inherited a lot of their issues from H3 where they were just bootleg Elites. My ideal Halo would be a remake of ODST that addresses these various issues and throws in some more weapons/vehicles from the other games to make the conflict feel larger (in addition to a remake of 2 that adds in all the cut levels, gives us the original ending where the Ark was on earth and you’d see a “Forerunner” skeleton that acts as the genetic template for humanity, uses modern hardware to actually give us the various ideas Bungie had that were too ambitious for the time, adds some cut weapons/vehicles and ones from other games where appropriate, and adds in quality of life improvements/features from the other games to improve the player experience while remaining mostly faithful. Sadly, that won’t happen either). That would be awesome! Thankfully now that MCC is on pc and we have proper modding tools this can become a reality.

This mod is so cool, thanks for the edited upload of you guys going through the whole campaign. Authentic Imperial Guard Simulator... except I agree with PancreasNoWork, who suggests Halo's lore is significantly more hardcore than 40K because of their differing purposes. In 40K, it's about endless war, meaning no side can ever lose for really real, whereas the Human-Covenant War was just decades of losing, and it only took so long because the UNSC had that much to lose, because it's an FPS narrative about a lone hero emerging to turn the tide right at the end.

Playing as Marines and Troopers is basically your 40k Guardsman.

They should make a spin off game just like this. Only adjust the player character to be weaker than spartans (of course) and die a lot. Then give the now weak human player tactical options such as leaning and prone. I think it would be a great showcase of how awesome ALL spartans are by comparison to what we experience in this hypothetical game.

This could be really great fully realized as a PVE mini campaign with 5-8 player co op. Adding the ability to heal your teammates and use cover like in Rainbow Six Vegas or Gears combined with a higher human player cap could balance out the somewhat overwhelming difficulty spike.

fun fact: For pretty much majority of the time in the campaign we fight alongside UNSC *Army* Soldiers and during that one space mission we were then fighting alongside members of the UNSC *Airforce* and only then around the final mission of the game during the final bits to the Pillar of Autumn is where we actually fight alongside UNSC *Marines*

I see this mod follows the same logic that the Halo TV series does in that the same weapons do more damage in the hands of Spartans than what they do in the hands of regular humans lol

If they added the Air Assault helmet with the deep blue visor that ODSTs have onto the Army trooper body, it would turn the trooper from a cavalry trooper into a airborne paratrooper. If they added an orange visor and the FC-I CSM attachment to the helmet, it would turn the paratrooper into an airborne pathfinder.

I think the trooper campaign can be improved. using overlay animations from player spartans can allow these troopers to feel more natural

I hope the mod author adds this to Steam Workshop at some point. That would make the mod far more accessible. It would also be awesome if the sandbox got a few balancing changes to make the guns more useful. Brutes also need to be made more aggressive like they were in 2. There’s several little things that would go a long way to enhancing the game. Seeing this be compatible with other mods like Ruby’s Rebalanced, Mythic Overhaul, and Reach Evolved would be so much fun. Too bad that most likely won’t happen.

This mod is actually quite fun to a refreshing standpoint. Never thought I'd be using shotguns very tactically against Elites! Really encourages (generous way of saying "forcing") you to actually think out actions before taking any step. Grunts are actually threatening when careless!

A really cool update to this mod would be adding the Noble members into the game that do the objectives you normally do as Six but you are literally a Trooper/ODST with them in every level. I think you could headcanon that easily.

I would love to see a persistent Halo multiplayer videogame with the two factions having finite slots for powerful units such as Elites and Spartans, but most players have to play the roles of Marines, troopers, jackals and grunts, or even PvE. A bit like Planetscape 2 meets Battlefront 2 (the original one). This mod is a bit like a showcase for how working as a team of troopers would be.

This would be bearable if the assault rifle didn’t suck, also nice video this mod is awesome.

We played a 6 man stack in the marine firefight mod for ODST, it’s similar to this one. It was honestly such a cool way to play halo. Wish they’d have skulls or something that spawn you as a marine or odst
