Welcome to the Dare to Dream Collection, where I give you a closer look at high heat sneakers from the past and present, and pairs that have a significant meaning in sneaker history! For today's episode, I'm recapping the drama surrounding the release of the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1, which was mired in controversy due to accusations of Marcus Jordan "backdooring" a good amount of the stock. In addition, I'll be breaking down all the details of the shoe from top to bottom, so enjoy!

Worst!!! Pairs were backdoored to resellers month advance. And the invoices were send from the inside to friends, youtubers.

I recently sold over 30 pairs of my retros I’m taking a break from the sneakergame, yeah it is ridiculous now I’d rather invest my money than spend it on sneakers

Marcus is straight up lying. There was hand written notes by Marcus thanking them. My friend owns a resell store and if I recall correctly they were offered pairs for around $800 if you purchased more than 30. He just wanted to feel special and part of something.

Marcus doesn't deserve another Jordan Brand collab ever again, even if the backdooring allegations aren't true. He handled it super poorly and tried to deflect blame back on the customers when in reality, it was his fault for the poor rollout. It damaged not only Trophy room's reputation, but Nike and Jordan Brand's reps as well. Michael had better be furious with him, I sure would be if my kid pulled that shit.

As much as I objectively like the shoe and can appreciate the design and craft, I think everyone forgot (or at least wanted) to forget it's terrible release. This could've been shoe of the year if they released like the AMM 3s.

Ah yes the infamous shattered backdoors. IMO these do not deserve a to be in a top 10 of 2021 list, a shoe shouldn't be in a list for being so infamous. The story telling is cool and you can't go wrong with a Chicago colorway, but these just felt like a dialed up origin story for me, not worth it's resale asking price.

I was fortunate enough to cop a pair of these before Marcus Jordan decided to cover his backdooring tracks and say that you gotta have the Trophy Room blue laces to be legit. I wear them all the time and get tons of compliments. Great video and review!😎👍

Also, i lost my respect for the brand after this release. I was an inch close to getting into the reps game but thankfully i cleared my mind and moved on and found out about new balance 😆

I honestly ended up buying these recently due to all the controversy and conspiracy from the drop. In time, it will add to the story/rarity or people will simply get over it. Either way, Chicago collectors (like myself) will need these to add to/complete their set.

I remember the day joining the raffle on the site 😂 just straight up wasted my time, should've slept instead of joining the raffle. Form on site not working, then when you email them directly, it tells you try again later bec. they're receiving too much emails or some sort 🙂😂

Depends on the place at mcdonals you wering reps but the same shoe at a high end restaurant you have the real deal. At the end of the day who cares, if you did not get from nike or thropy room then you are not 100 percent sure

Happy for you man. That's good to hear. I paid resell for mine but it came with a factory defect on the toebox so I returned it to my local reseller.

These are like Elsa shoes with icy glitter. No leather quality. Could have been a really nice shoe. Would pay retail but not more. Wouldn’t give Marcus one dollar of my business though. So many fakes though so not worth it.
