From the far north of Scotland to the far south of New Zealand, William Trotter was one of Otago’s earliest settlers. He emigrated with an ambition to build a fortune and achieved his goal, opening up large tracts of land in North Otago, at Kingston and in Southland, and developing them into profitable farms.
