This has got to be my favorite story of all Appalachia stories. This goes to show when love is the basis for a family, the heart will prove to be the strongest ali.

Oh J D, your stories are so relatable To us older generation. My own children and grandchildren simply can not relate in any way to the way of life, with no television, internet, no indoor plumbing, no showers or tubs, cooking at a cast iron wood stove. And it being the only source of heat and hot water heating. Have you ever wondered how they would survive if there were a catastrophic event to happen?
