I have a neighbor who recently restored one of these at a local shop. It was in significantly worse condition than this one. The entire floor was completely rusted out (like the car from the Flintstones) there was absolutely no interior at all. There was rust halfway up the doors too. It sat outside for close to 20 years completely rotting away at his mother's house under a tree. It's been cleaned, got new floors and doors, and it looks pretty decent now. It's a really light light blue color. Just about the same color as the Shmoo sweatshirt.

Hello from Ecuador! I've been a fan for several years but I must admit that I am more excited about seeing the 914 being brought back to life than I am about thousand horsepower supercars that noone wants or can afford! I'm old at 76 so I remember the 914 and coveted 916! Keep it coming. Cheers.

Finally! A car on Shmee's channel that I actually can relate to. This was my dream car in high school and it was my first car I bought as an "adult". I've owned 4 of them (1.7, 1.8 and 2.0) before graduating to a 944 and then a few years later, a 911 Targa. I greatly enjoyed owning my last 914...it was a 1974 2.0L that the previous owner ( a Porsche hobby racer) built as his daily driver. Mostly stock with just a little tune on the engine. Loved that car! Don't know why there isn't one in the my garage now. Enjoy it Shmee...I'll be looking forward to the updates!

I completely understand your panic in that situation mate. I’m an HGV driver and travel the country everyday and that exact situation happens every single day. I must see it at least once a day. I’m glad it didn’t turn into something disastrous.

That was my first car when I was 18. So much fun. I had Dellorto carbs, Koni shocks, Pirellis, cut springs, Ansa exhaust, and a Momo steering wheel. The whole kit. I think I’ll try to find another one. Great, fun car.

If you do modify some of it please get rid of the front side reflectors or at least reduce the size. Also fit the six in it.

Why didn't you take the purosangue for towing?

I had the exact thing happen to me years ago with the trailer incident. Driving fir a friend at the time one our way to a Major Car show. Maneuvered out of a possible 5 to 8 car ply up. My friend saw my quick reaction 😮 was like Damn Son that’s some driving. I looked at him and said Thank you but we had a lot of Luck wirk in out favor. He said damn, can drive and is modest . Your my new Driver for Audiobahn. That’s a story for when we get to see each other this year. Hopefully 🙏 Grateful y’all are both not hurt and no damage to either car 😇 loving the videos ❤

The standard of driving in the UK has gone downhill drastically in recent years. As someone who drives quite a few miles as part of my job, it's astonishing the behaviour some people exhibit.

If it's on dashcam then send it to the local plod. Highway Code rule 259? covers this..."You MUST never cross from the slip road and go directly into either lane 2 or 3, stay in the first lane for a while until you've adjusted to the traffic, then make your planned moved into the lanes to the right."

I can't wait to see this car restored. This car is going to be a rebulid series. It looks so interesting. Hope this car changes into the best 914/4 porshe with the most wierdest story. Can't wait shmee.

I am very excited to see what happens with this project. When I was a kid in the 1980s I remember seeing one of these in a yellow color and thought the front of the 914 was the back 😅

This is perfect, this will be a very successful project. You will be learning a lot. I hope you get tge chance to fabricate a portion of your car. Maybe, a conversion to a 6 cylinder???

At first I thought the 914 was too small and dinky for a Schmee project but now I can see that it will be very interesting

The Cayman GT4 purple colours was a wrap though , underneath it was white.

The more you see of the other cars, the more you were worried about your car but more importantly you realize you are absolutely in the right place to get yours in order.

My vote is for tracking down a 914 v6 from this era to swap if possible . With restorations their always so many surprises...good and bad. Hoping for more good. Looks like it has a good foundation hopefully. Being from USA and Canada hopefully it didn't see many winters and dreaded roadsalt and sand that rsusts out so many cars her quickly. Porsche 914 is an underrated icon and YCR never disappoint

kept being distracted by that gorgeous Nightfire Red Mini that yourkshire car restro have in their garage😍. However your Porsche 914 is going to look Mega when it's done, The current colour is lovely.

With the Cleo V6 & The BMW already been restored and in the collection I just know the Yorkshire car team will bring the Porsche back to former glory buzzing to see what u do plus wondering what plate you use😅

That V6 swapped M1 Miata is cool but I've seen people who have jammed Chevy LS V8s out of Corvettes into M1 Miatas now that's crazy.

Have just recently seen Jay Leno's Garage featuring a 914/6 GT. A great car and can't wait to see the restoration and outcome.

Electrify it Tim, really looking forward to this, 930 electric is so much fun unless you bump into a Porsche purist, so prepare yourself!

My gramps has done a 1941 Cadillac all original in black on white walls, and won 1st place in low rider mag for most original. He just finished a 1971 firebird, mostly original besides the paint, he went for a 2018 Audi metallic blue color I forget the name and the color code but it’s GORGEOUS. My plan is to find a nice 1987 Grand National GNX that needs some love and throw a LSX in it with modern suspension and brakes. Gonna keep the engine stock and NA with a conservative redline so you can lay down on the throttle all day long and never have to think about breaking anything.

I used to own one. Great car! Also try to find a Karma Gia convertible I had the 1967.

A few years ago a guy I worked with had one and I looked into the interior. I was surprised because I'd forgotten just how spartan they were. Wrap a 1" ratchet strap around the body and over the top.

Will definitely be following the 914. I’m the original owner of an all original 1973 914 2.0 litre and in Canada they only came with the appearance group with chrome bumpers and those Fuch alloy wheels. Was never driven in the winter.

The 914 has a lovely rear end if I may say so, looking forward to seeing this one progress

I love it as you can use it as a base to build a really nice runner. You have to have the vision for it and do a tasteful build.. But definitely for you a learning process

This is so sick! Shmee doing a rebuild series is awesome because coming from mat and tavarish, i love to see cars being rebuilt into perfection and I can safely say shmee knows perfection when it comes to his unique taste.

I actually like the colour a lot. It suits the car better than others and goes well with the wheels.

I had the exact same thing happen to me where a car came from the entrance ramp all the way across two lanes of traffic right in front of me going 30 mph slower than I was. Fortunately I wasnt towing but driving my Mini and i was able to brake, get on to the hard shoulder and get around them. Much profanity ensued!

Shmee, You really need to have a dash cam in every vehicle you drive on a daily basis. Me owning one in my cars have saved my bacon more than once.

I wonder if Tim's going to restore it to stock or take this opportunity to pep it up a little bit? I'm sure there are lots of performance upgrades available like suspension and brakes or rebuilding the engine with some more modern performance parts.

Just a heads up next time you put it on a trailer reverse it on so it gives the trailer positive noseweight and more stability & safety. Mid and rear engined cars go on trailers backwards.

The level of driving in the U.K. is shocking at times. In Europe some countries drives take a bit more pride in road use. I would swap all the Cars in Tim’s Garage for a Mint Mk1 Escort Mexico and a DB5…. And a Mint classic MINI club sport - I’d be happy. 😂

You should go completely left field and resto mod it. Lowered Stance suspension, performance motor. Custom wheels. Bet there wouldn’t be to many around with a resto mod. While your in The body. Widen the guards.etc etc 👍

I had the chance (about 10 years ago) to buy a really cheap 914 here in Brazil, but let the oportunity pass. Now I regret it, because the value of those cars have gone through the roof in here. Now I own a perfect condition Opel (chevrolet) Calibra, and I'm very happy with the car. It's not about the car, but what it makes you feel.

When you compared the project to something Mat Armstrong or Chris Slix would do, I was looking forward to seeing you using your tools and getting your hands dirty rebuilding it.

I know you are saying restoration. However this could be a very good opportunity for some upgrades. Big upgrades!
