For anyone having issues with the trash bin not appearing, you need to enable developer mode on browser settings -> extensions -> manage extensions -> top right of the screen.

As a server manager, this is very helpful. Bots can only delete up to 14 days ago (discord limitation). Having this allows me to delete other people's messages of they get banned and remove all traces of them.

Note: You can't delete messages in channels where you have no permissions to view them. You can't delete messages in servers where you've sent messages, but are no longer a part of.

One thing to note to people having issues CHECK EVERYTHING your browser does have a tendency to fill in info such as your email or password in the interval of messages.

Some tips to deal with these issue: status 401: scroll down to advance settings, then fill in the authorization token. status 400: check the message interval and date interval and make sure to fill them right, or just empty them out.

For anyone who is coming here because they have been using this for awhile and all of a sudden it stopped working, me too. I'm not saying this will work for you but looking at what other people have said it worked for them and also worked for me. The newest version, 5.2.1 seems to be what is causing all of the bugs and errors, so if you go into it's history and downgrade to the last version, 5.2.0 it should work again. hope this helps someone.

Just a note for anyone getting a status 400! Error and youre using chrome, try deleting your saved passwords for discord. For whatever reason it auto fills in the keys with that info so it wont work. Worked like a charm after, this code is legit and is amazing :)

it has an issue with browser accounts password autofill, go to advanced settings, delete the authorization token because it auto-filled one of your passwords, then press fill again, after that go to messages interval, you will find your browser also auto-filled one of your passwords there so delete it

OMG wow I was SO frustrated because comments seemed to be working.. SO Step 1 after you add everything - go to settings an exertions and "allow in incognito.. then open this all in incognito and it begins actually working.

Undiscord does not work any more, discord made a change to the API and since undiscord is pretty much abandoned it doesnt work.

The fact that discord doesn't allow us to delete chat history is infuriating. Due to this, it is eating up my storage 😫

SEPT 17 2023 Thank you! Finally something that works. And you explained it PERFECTLY. Everywhere else doesn't. And it never worked properly since the last update I did a while back. I was using violent monkey and it was totally broken. This worked well, EXCEPT for the fact that it just STOP. Not rate limiting me, just stops. So I keep having to sit ehre...and click start over and over again. It's time comsuning but worth it.

I have a question, this "Trashbin > Wipe Archive > Upload index.json" technique is basically an alternative way to do the same thing as "Trashbin > [me] > Delete"? Upon activated will it delete all messages from just the selected one-on-one conversation or all convos from all chats? I'm a bit confused. Does one need to be performed after the other?

Unfortunately it doesn't work for deleting messages from Discord threads, only from linear chats.

I got this to work a few months ago, and as of today it apparently doesn't seem to work. I even manually retrieved the Authorization token, but no luck. I might try again tomorrow.
