@@sabarinathchockalingam2120if there is negative it changes , in that -374 mod 18 is given , so if negative comes you need to use y-(x mod y) 18 - (374 mod 18) 18 - 14 = 4 Now you got it 🎉

For encryption we use private key and for decryption we use public key nah mam.. At starting u have written wrong mam..

Mam how to know easily whether alpha is primitive root of q ,before doing the calculations because ,after doing the whole calculations also if we miss one number that is not there in q-1 also ,then it is not primitive root ,in exam there will be no time for us ,for this calculation because here in this example you have taken q=19 ,so we have to do 5 power 1 to 18 ....so tell us the easy identification whether it is primitive root or not.....and 10 power 16 mod 19 = 1× 10 power 16......how's this possible you said 4 ,I had done it in calci.....still 10 power 14 mod 19 not getting 16 getting 1×10 power 14.....please explain these doubts mam.....
