Troubleshooting A Problem With My BMX Freecoaster

4 жыл бұрынMy coaster sounds like gonorrhea so today im gonna take it apart and see whut the heck is making all them nasty noises, also im gonna clean it and perform basic maintenance on it like you're supposed to that i've been slacking on like a hoe:D

I had the same problem with my cassette, so I just tightened the hell out of the axle and called it good. Also used lightweight threadlock. Still runs perfect.

Huh I have the Optimize coaster. Had to replace the clutch once in 3 yrs. It's good.

it's a very good hub, the wiggle and gross sounds isn't unique to the shadow coaster, it just happens because of the way coasters are designed

Look for something that comes with a 21 inch top tube and that has as many sealed and chromoly parts within your price range

my odyssey driver kept on binding so bad that I couldn't move the pedals..Then I made a weird little spacer with a bobby pin to go inside the drive side coller

the noise that wheel made when u shook it is exactly what mine does. its like space between the driver and drive side bearing

unfortunately it's a flaw in the design of most freecoasters, some just end up being looser than others

no need to worry, this is a universal problem with most freecoasters, the way that they're designed leaves them prone to making gross noises

My bike is 100% aftermarket so I bought each part individually, I recommend starting off with a complete bike then slowly building it up so that it too becomes fully aftermarket

Thanks alot for putting such a great video, good job 👍 My rear hub started rattling after 2 months, it is Garrett Reynolds Cinema freecoaster FX2 hub & wheel, the bike shop guy told me to replace the bearing & its not available here, so after watching your video I just tighten the compression bolt abit by my self & now the rattle is gone 😊 Thanks alot brother 👏 (Greetings from Dubai, UAE 🇦🇪✌️)

Mine did return shortly after making this, unfortunately it's just a big flaw that most coasters can have, it doesn't affect anything, it's just annoying

I was for many years, and was against the whole freecoaster uproar, first time trying one I hated it because of the slack. But then I tried it a few more times and learned that you can control the slack. Then eventually I got my own, planning on going back and forth between cassette and coaster, but once I put it on I never took it off, I was having too much fun

it's just a freecoaster. 95% of all freecoasters run on the exact same design, the wiggle and gross noises is a universal problem that could happen on all coasters because of how they're designed. I've had 3 wheelsets with shadow hubs and they all ran amazing
