2014 Mercury ProXS 150 long beep and loss of power.

This problem ended up being the sensor in the reserve oil tank in the motor. it's a common problem. I replaced the whole tank and it fixed the issue.

Why did the sensor cause the bot to slow up. Is that a limp mode to protect the engine incase of serious issue?

I have a similar problem with an oil injected 2 stroke that I am currently working on. This video may have pointed me into the right direction even with the difference of 2-4stroke the symptoms are identical

My friend has a Mariner 30hp, the beep is continuous but the engine is still running right, full throttle or not, starts right up and seem to consume oil properly. Will forward your video to him for sure!!

We just bought a 1998 Fling inboard motor. Our first trip out on the lake was today. We had only been on the water, running a little over idle speed. No issues. Boat seemed to be running fine and then a loud, continuous noise started. It was peeing so, no clogs. We drove back to the dock (in alligator infested waters and obviously not wanting to be a meal for them). At the dock, shut off engine. When cranked back up, the noise had stopped. Once home, checked the oil. It was low. We’ve added oil and plan on taking it back out, maybe where there are no gators 😂 and try it again. I see last comment was on outboard motor so, asking in case anyone has experienced this with inboard motor

I replaced the VRO pump with a Pulse fuel pump but the alarm sounds even if the motors not running??

Tho oil sensor pressure leak is 4 short beeps I know that. So the float sensor in the on board resivour will sound 4 beeps of oil is low in it.. I hear this same long beep when trying to get on plain sometimes. I back off and try again and it goes away

Anyone know how to remove oil reservoir on a 2014/115hp mercury pro xs optimax? Do you have to take bottom calen off?

I just bought a boat on Friday, went out yesterday (Sunday) with and it, it has a 2000 Merc Optimax 150 and it almost immediately did what your motor did, did you happen to find out what the issue was ?

Sorry I missed this question Rick. yes, it was the reserve oil tank sensor under the cowling. I replaced the tank and it worked.

having same issue but 4 beeps then motor dies to an idle! very frustrating as I only got 22 hrs on the new engine? 2014 Merc Optimax pro xs 150?

Just had this happen today on a 2005 Mercury 2 stroke 90. Went from 3/4 throttle down to an idle and long beep the whole way back. When I turn the key on it starts as soon as key turned. Will see what the shop tells me tomorrow.

@@marcnavcaliforniaanglerz5091 mine was the plastic pieces where the throttle linkage attaches. Those plastic pieces were worn and needed to be replaced. The throttle bar had popped out of the plastic pieces.

@@marcnavcaliforniaanglerz5091 the bleeping was the sensor in the oil tank. Disconnected the wire and no more problems. Just have to make sure you check the oil level if you have an oil tank on it.

My 40hp mercury just started the long beep. Starts and runs and gets oil but still has that long beep as soon as you turn the key on

I've got the same motor and turns out the recharging fuse had blown-the altenator wasnt charging the cranking battery. Got that replaced and ran the motor below 2500 rpm's to have the computer reset and I was able to run it at 4500 rpm's after that and the long beep was gone. Just a suggestion.....

@@ashlar236 mine ended up being the magnet in the oil tank. I just unplugged it. Dam tank is about 300 bucks lol

Sorry I never saw this comment Tabitha. Yes, the problem was the oil tank under the cowling. I replaced the reserve oil tank and it fixed it.

Mine does thw long beep when I have it or 5k...or beeps four times every two minutes. ...any heard of the long beep over 5k rpm!??

I had to replace the reserve oil tank.

4 beeps every 2 minutes indicates that the internal oil tank is low. you can fix that by loosening the cap at the top of the internal tank while the motor is running. only loosen it a little. The oil will pump from the large reservoir into the internal tank and overflow if you don't tighten it back up. What you are doing is flushing the air from the internal tank and replacing it with oil. Mine does that and I think there is a loose gasket around the cap on the internal tank allowing air to seep in when it is not in use. Usually when I run my motor the 4 beeping every 2 minutes will only last 2-3 times and that tells me that the oil has pushed out the air by itsell. I think I probably should replace the entire internal resevoir and be done with it.

Mine is long beeping at 5 k or more… did you figure yours out?
