One of my favorite dialogs in the wonderful movie TROY. Achilles (Brad pitt) - the great hero of Trojan war reveals the other side of life as a warrior!!

"Don't waste your life following a fool's orders" damn Achiles I guess you are the fool in this one xD

Why? He said go and Patroklos obeys. If he thought Achilles was a fool, he would not do what he is told. But Achilles was selfcentered and egoistic, even while teaching young Patroklos the life lessons that would have saved his life if he listen to it. Does not make either of them a fool, but Agamemnon...

Obligatory, in the actual Iliad comment incoming: In the actual Iliad, Patroclus was a seasoned killer and far deadlier than even Hector. Apollo had to come to Hector's aid for the latter to have a chance at slaying Patroclus. Apollo broke a few of Patroclus' ribs/punctured his lungs with a powerful open palm slap to the back. Hector followed up with the eventual finisher.

I wouldn’t define him as a “seasoned killer”. He’s different from the movie version in the sense that he’s older, so his relationship with Achilles is one between equals rather than a teacher/pupil one. And yes, he is capable as a warrior. Still though, Briseis mourns him as “Patroclus, who was always sweet”. It’s clear there was an innocence to him that Achilles lacked. I wouldn’t define him as deadlier than Hector, not by a long shot.

@@rickblaine9670 Have to disagree for the most part. Patroclus relished slaying the Trojans and even took out Sarpedon with ease. Seasoned killer seems an apt moniker. I would suggest he is significantly stronger than Hector. Hector watched and waited cautiously, only striking after Apollo broke Patroclus' ribs, tore his armor open, and slapped his helmet off. This, with Euphorbus' spear wound gushing out.

Its really clever to put your whole army out infront of your stonewalls, isnt it? In game of thrones they are guilty of this war winning strategy too.
