I am not sure what is more impressive. How well that 90y old BMW runs on a race track or the amount of pure natural talent displayed by Corser manhandling that old lady around the track at 125 mph, scraping hardware in corners. Every new rider should watch this. Just fantastic to watch.

Resurrecting an old post here but yeah Corser looked totally at ease on that old BMW. I think very few people could have put together a faster lap time on it. I think if you put him on that bike on an 'advanced' track day, he would be lapping some modern day superbikes.

That bike would be outrun by most modern bikes for under 6 grand. But that's obviously not the point. This bike is the cause that compressors are and were banned in motorcycle racing. I think the point is, that the excitement of racing doesn't come from lap times. It's from interaction between man and machine. Smooth is fast, but smooth is boring,

@AndrewFrink
@AndrewFrink 5 жыл бұрын
@Matte Muso, I found a video of some of the "incidents" and didn't see anything that i would look at and say were deliberate attempts to run in to another rider. In both cases Manzi was clearly ahead and as such it is correct for him to take his line. If Fenati wants to try and stuff his bike down the inside, or try and run someone wide, and they hold their ground then it's clearly his (Fenati's) fault. www.motorcyclesports.net/motogp/video-see-what-manzi-did-that-led-fenati-to-lose-his-temper/ about 1 minute in they show some other incidents.
@matteomuso9114
@matteomuso9114 5 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewFrink sorry bro, but maybe u confused the bikes, look at the first episode, manzi that was behind fenati (and nobody of them was fightin for some important positions or for the championship) tried a fuckin impossible line at a fuckin impossible speed just to try to overtake in a moment he couldn't, that was causin a fuckin crash, and for me that is bas as what fenati did. Second episode is nothin he just overtook, i'm not tryin to justify nobody but don't tell me manzi did nothin. The fault is on both riders, for me at the same level.

Competition regulations changed between the late 20's and early 50's, a supercharged 500cc with about 70-75 HP vs an NA 500cc producing 55-60 HP, that difference can obviously void the handicap of not having any suspension ;) (As a comparison, a BRM Grand Prix (Formula 1 predecessor) car from 1955 had a supercharged 1500cc V16 giving out 450-600 HP, but 1965 they used 200 HP NA 1500 cc Engines)

Troy Corser rode the WSBK championship in it's most competitive era with Fogarty, Slight, Kocinski, Kagayama, Chili, Edwards, Bayliss all battling it out and he would've definitely won more world titles had he been in another era. The way he is manhandling that 85 year old BMW with no suspension, drum brakes, skinny tyres, shifting using the left hand taking it off the handlebar, shows how naturally gifted a rider he is!

They have to be clean overtakes. These machines are museum pieces that the owners are trusting tho these riders. Any rider who doesn’t respect these machines would soon find themselves black balled.

almost double the hp these days and modern classic race tyres are very good. Then there's the modern dampers etc. Don't get me wrong, fantastic stuff, but a lot of improvements over what they once were.

But f1 was more dangerous than bikes so the camaraderie was there, but jackie Stuart helpd destroy an incredible sport alongside eccelstone putting the money over the racing. Can't sand either of them. No matter the ability shown in stuarts career. I prefer the, be alive at death way of approaching it and hopefully not reach that situation.

Quite the stark contrast between this and the idiot in Moto 2 pulling brake levers. Corser and McGuinness are top notch and sometimes you've just gotta let them know you're there lolol. Another AMAZING Revival. The live stream all weekend long was perfect as usual.

A hard tail handles great when it's not hopping. The first time I rode one, I was shocked by how much I like the handling. It had a really nice, bicycle feel, light and nimble. You just have to learn to stand up on the boards. Ride it like a dirt bike. A hard tail holds chain tension great, they're durable as shit and simple to mess with. Just don't ride it to California, make it the bar hopper.
