Dude...first off (at around 4:04 mark), you don't need to slide the battery up and out like you showed. The bracket that holds the battery itself just lifts straight up (it's connected into two holes). Just pull the bracket up (with the battery) and pull it forward. Then replace the battery, take the bracket with the new battery and just seat it back into the two holes (which takes a little patience) and voila...easy uninstall/install.

How do you lift the red plastic up? I took out the 2 screws in the back but it only lifted the back part.

Thanks from an old lady who likes to do things myself, but generally messes it up. Your instructions worked perfectly. Your video most likely saved me from a nasty shock. At my age, I probably would have had a heart attack. So, thank you again.

Thank you so much for this Peter! I’m a woman and these things are intimidating and you telling which sockets to use and how not to electrocute myself were especially helpful. This took me 15 minutes. It took me longer to find the right battery online! Thank you for making it look easy to give me the confidence to do it myself!

Thank you for posting this. My brother moved so I had to do it myself. Now that I did it I’m not sure what I was so scared of. I guess I was afraid of getting zonked.

Hey Peter, I've had my TB30 for 5 years. I have used many of your tips with good success. I put the Drainzit hose on 3 years ago and oil changes are a breeze. I live in Central Iowa and I pull the battery every fall and keep it in the basement. I can get nearly 4 years out of it.

I appreciate this video. I did it by myself today. I would like to add that the bottom right bracket will come off if you lift it a little. Also, make sure the store sells you the positive left and negative right. Ace Hardware tried to sell me the opposite,

I purchased a 320CCA, AGM battery UL1 through Amazon for $69.99 as it should start the mower better and faster and last longer than the standard 200CCA, Non AGM UL1 that cost about $50. I'm hoping to get double the life which would be 5 or 6 years. I remove it off season (winter) and put it on a Battery Tender trickle charger for maintenance while it is out of the mower.

Hello Peter! Quick question, im needing to replace battery but the one you show in this video is bigger than the one that comes in stock? What are the specs for this battery?

You can just drop the right side of the wire bracket. This drops the battery far enough to clear the cover and the throttle wire. Easier to get 1 side of the wire bracket back in the hole. Everything else is excellent advice.

Great video. Was wondering how your hour meter was working out? I think you installed it 5-6years ago. Is that an inductive type meter or does it run off the "key on" 12v position?

It was an inductive but the sealed battery died so I lost track of hours!

Should I add a battery tender? Does anything actually charge the battery while your mowing?

The mower charges while the engine is running using a magneto coil system. If you put the mower up for a season, like several months over winter then yes a battery tender will help keep it charged. I use my mower pretty much year round here in N Florida so I've never used one.

My only issue with a snake in my lawn more because I’ve had mine and I tend to like mine very much. Is the fact that it doesn’t have an easy accessible way to charge the battery besides taking the entire cover over a little difficult you if you don’t have the tool rental that’s capable of doing it you gotta stop complete year, which is pretty large here waiting for you brother there or I can bring you a tool after work. Yeah put a bigger damper on my day. Let me tell ya, or does anybody else have any bright ideas about this making model

Peter, i just did an oil change and before i did that it started ran for a bit and did the tune up. After i was done i tried turning it on but no click no sound nothing. I checked fuse and it was fine but just noticed batt is from 2016 and we are in 2022, you think its my batt?

Check all the safety switches. The blades must be disengaged, the brake pedal fully depressed, the seat occupied and the blade cover plastic properly attached. If they're all good then try jumping it from a car. If it starts but won't start again on its own then buy a battery.

That battery looks a lot bigger than the one on my TB30...can anyone confirm the Battery number that will fit a TB30...the one in video appears ro be a Eu1L...but the EU1L is physically about twice the size as the one on mine.

I'm not instal this last element. I thing it is useless ... it is almost imopossible that battery will go up.

I gotcha! The hold down bracket? Yes I suppose it's not really necessary unless you roll the mower over!
