There’s a current debate going around among Spider-Man fans. One question that always gets asked whenever something new releases, be it a movie or comic or video game. “Why does Peter Parker have to suffer?” No Way Home being one of the most recent examples. That movie ends with the character in the worst place he’s ever been at, a position that even the comics version of the character hasn’t explored. And a lot of fans, such as myself, loved that decision. So… Why is that? Is the character ever allowed to be happy? It’s a question that even the Marvel company seems afraid to answer. In the last part, I pushed the character pretty hard, probably harder than the future movies are going to be comfortable doing. Not just to be dark and edgy, but because I think it’s necessary to truly showcase what makes the Spider-Man character so special. I believe that all superheroes fundamentally exist for one specific reason, and Spider-Man is no different. At the end of the day, when you take away the powers and the costumes and the silly villains, at his core… Spider-Man should always represent one thing. And today, we’re going to figure out what that is.
So, at long last, here’s my pitch, for *Spider-Man: Final Swing*.
With great power, there must also come great responsibility:

I love that Scorpion and the Symbiote merge into one in this. They are both huge triggers for Peter, so him facing what could possibly be his greatest fear to save one person is the Most Spider-Man thing I’ve ever seen. It’s almost like, Venom Scorpion represents the worst of Peter, why Little Johnny represents the best. It’s poetic!

(Spoilers) It'd be fun if Kamala had a moment of fangirling over Spider-Man's return and could have a line along the lines of "I thought it was unfair for them to ban cosplaying as you at Avengercon" to explain in-universe why there wasn't anything Spider-Man related there. They banned cosplaying as him or selling his merch due to how controversial he is.

Damn it. That moment with the kid got me. That’s actually perfect. They better have a moment like this in the MCU Edit: Now I’ve seen the goblin scene. That’s definitely Hobgoblin, Ned. That’s why he wasn’t in this trilogy! It’s going to be new goblin fake out, I think. Also if we don’t get a miles/future trilogy people are going to riot! But it might be hard to plan, since we don’t know if he’ll be in the young avengers or what. 10/10 I don’t know why. The last 2 just didn’t feel like Spider-Man to me. I don’t know why. It was like homecoming and far from home. I enjoy it, but I just didn’t feel like Spider-Man. But this is the perfect Spider-Man movie, in my opinion. It’s just missing stilt man.

My favourite thing that I'm starting to notice in a lot of the comic book movies I love and that this pitch has in spades are scenes of calm but genuine human vulnerability. The Raimi trilogy has them, The Suicide Squad (2021) has them, The Batman has them and there are so many in this pitch that I could imagine film video essayists dissecting and analysing endlessly. The heart to heart between Peter and Matt, the exchange between Peter and Johnny, there's so much potential in this! Truly stellar work Troy!

This MCU College Trilogy is probably one of my favorite trilogies of all time (Movies, Books, Games, etc.), and i'm not exaggerating. It's peak Spider-Man right there! It shows why do i love that character so much, why he's my favorite super-hero of all time (In Comics in general) and why he's in my profile photo. Your prewrites and rewrites have always been amazing imo. Spectcaular job, troyoboyo17 (Pun intended lol). Keep up the great work :)

Okay, WOW. Firstly... The plot points about guilt really hit me. About depression, not feeling worthy of happiness, of feeling so angry internally despite what I show. I may not feel guilty about much to do with others, but the feelings I have are genuinely inescapable. And while I may not be the BIGGEST Spider-Man fan, this character, especially Miles, really reminds me of the good in life, despite the inner struggles. Peter should be happy too. That scene with Johnny had me crying like a fucking baby -- almost. So, so, so many times I've just felt so many emotions swell up, ones that I can't describe, when my mum or dad asks me what's wrong, how I feel and I don't know how to answer, when I hug them and bawl my God damn eyes out because I know they'll ALWAYS be people that care eve if I don't know why I feel how I do -- bro, I'm tearing up as I write this comment. You did really well. Oh, and Miles. Again, as an artistist type, I love ITSV Miles and that last scene was good. Real good. You made a theatrical Spider-Man story that incapsulates the emotional depth of the character and his effects on others' without bringing in the death of a loved one, and you made it DAMN well. Thank you - Spidip

Really loved this trilogy you put together, Troy. Favorite scene out of this one has got to be the one with Peter and Johnny. It had a lot of the same vibes as the scene in Spider-Man 2 with Peter, May, and Henry. Peter learning to forgive himself because someone he didn’t know forgave him done really well. Can’t wait to see where the MCU takes Peter post NWH but I hope it’s as good as this story.

1 i loved this story 2 good for you for learning all of these crafts just for this story 3 the only gripe I have is that WHERE IS THE CEO OF SEX(I don’t know if he shows up in the end credit scene (haven’t finished the entire video) ) Bonus: (don’t read if you haven’t seen the video)I think the old prototype mask for the Sam rami green goblin would be an interesting version for goblin

the CGI frames for the setpieces really add to these. hope you continue using these in future videos EDIT: the fight scene looks great though, if i could give a small sugestion i might make frames of the setpieces instead of full on animations, print them and put them on the ice cream sticks as well to mesh more with the rest of the video

Man I’ve looked forward to this video so much and my god it’s freakin’GREAT!! Congratulations, you truly outdid yourself. P.S. quality(it being both in the story and, as of this one, in the production) was all around great and I look forward to see more of this kind of content: your spin to the genre allows for something really unique and entertaining.

I for one would love for you to continue this story, because even though it began as a hypothetical "guess" at what the next trilogy could be about, I don't think it has to stay tied to that at all. I think you have a very profound understanding of Spider-Man's character and have taken him into really interesting directions while staying faithful to who he is, and honestly I already looked at this series as less of a hypothetical proposal and more as a new Spider-Man story in its own right, and I would really love to see where you'd take him next, especially with that set-up with Miles. I didn't think it could be possible to incorporate Miles into the MCU's version of Spider-Man because Tom Holland's character practically started out as a blend between Miles and Peter, but here I think it could really work.

It took me a while to get around to watching this, but I firmly believe this is the direction that they should take the character in next. I love everything about this, from the way that you utilized Daredevil to the scene between Peter and Johnny. Wonderful job, Troy.
