This is a full tour of our truck camper. We are traveling and living off the grid full-time in less than 100 sq ft , and we love it! The RV life has its perks, and one is being able to customize the way a person wants to live. With the solar panels, compost toilet, and all propane appliances we are all set, and so we said goodbye to RV Parks..WOOHOO!! We are also traveling with our Pit Bull, Nala, who seems to love her new tiny home! Our truck camper is a 1979 Fliteway, and our truck is a 1996 Chevy 2500 Full Size Extended Truck which runs and drives great! This camper may look tiny, but it's very spacious on the inside, and we can also fit anywhere as we travel!

My girlfriend and I traveled through every state in the lower 48 last winter after graduating from college. Our home was a '95 Fleetwood Elkhorn (9ft) on a long box '97 Dodge 2500 Cummins. It took us about four months :) We stayed in Walmart parking lots, truck stops, rest areas, and free campsites most of the way. Incredible experience, and now we can say that we lived together in a camper for four months, and drove it through the heart of most of the biggest cities in the US. The roof peeled back three times, the bed got wet from a few downpours in the south, and the pipes froze when we ran out of propane on an 8 degree night in Vermont. Nothing quite like traveling with your house on your back :)

Very cool. We've considered a truck camper, we've currently got a heavy 30footer. I think I'd run a shower hose out of the old sewer line. Buy a little hinge door at any camping place and put in an outdoor shower. If you are at the beach you could wash the sand off your feet, or put up one of those outdoor shower tent things.

Pretty sure you'll still need to have a source of income - a job/passive income to sustain you. Doing this type of lifestyle just prevents paying for rent or mortgage. Id rather do this as a single person or a couple - no kids, rather than stress out about paying for bills. High amounts of monthly payments keep people broke and stressed.

I was a construction worker and did a lot of traveling between cities. Eventually instead of doing the motel scene I invested in a 1978 13-1/2' overhead camper that sat on a 1979 f-150 4x4 just under $2600 at first I had to beef up the suspension and do some wiring other then that I was good to go. Since then I have built several units and done a tone of traveling... Now I am retired and currently building my newest camper with all the basic amenities to sustain a normal life style. Thanks for sharing your video and best of luck.

Its pulled by my 1996 dodge ram 2500 v10 4x4 long bed extended cab long bed over load spring kit and over load airbags. I am not doing it because everyone else is. I am 23 single and have wanted to live in one since I had to when I was younger. I love it.

It also has a dry bathroom. Satilite dish and TV antenna. Skylight over the bed. Microwave and oven. Its the 4 seasons package so its set for winter summer. My generator runs off propane. And that can run my Ac unit and microwave. It has 2 5 gallon propane tanks. The water gray and black water tanks have a heating system in them so they don't freeze. It also has a 5 gallon propane hot water tank

Four jacks provide a more uniform load distribution when the jack positions have been matched to the ground. During loading / unloading, the newer electric jacks synchronize their motion, preventing one jack from not supporting its share or becoming airborne (consequently stressing the camper and posing a safety risk). But for older, manual jacks, using three eliminates the risk when loading/unload that one jack is not loaded, (unstable&stressing the frame) - Three points DEFINE a plane.

My fiancé and I lived in a 26 foot fifth wheel for 2 years. It was a 96 Jayco. It had everything we needed including ac and heating. But summers were still miserable. We both worked full time and would come home to a boiling hot trailer and like any other ac it would take a while to get to cooling. With the limited amount of space we were miserable. As of June 1 we have been out of that trailer and into our own apartment..and it’s so weird because when we sold it we were both sad. Me a little more than him. I felt actual grief. Now I find myself watching more and more of these videos on KZfaq lol

I don’t know much about campers but I do know math (masters degree in it) and mathematically 3 points is the optimal way to stabilize the unit. It takes 3 points to define a plane (surface) and adding more points actually destabilizes it which is why a 3-legged chair won’t wobble but a 4 legged one will. :)
@deplorable1568
@deplorable1568 5 жыл бұрын
So I'm just being curious here, do you think 3 points will optimize any plane? I'm thinking that there is something to be said about surface area, and pressure points. Three points on a rectangular surface may stabilize the camper but if those points are not located at the proper places the three points will result in a tipping stored camper, especially if there is more pressure on an unsupported point. That being said, I'm sure the third leg is most likely engineered for such occurrences, and also for ease of maneuverability when the truck backs in for hookup to the camper.

Hey there. I'm impressed with how much functionality you have squeezed in to your camper. Really impressive. Everything ... including the kitchen sink ! The amount of storage options, the still functioning furnace, air conditioning, two hatches for cross ventilation including a fantastic fan, and OVEN (FFS !) with proper burners on the stove top (with hood vent), composting loo( was that on demand water heating too? ) and showering option. I am blown away by how well you have thought about the mechanics of actually living (and eating) well and in comfort regardless of the weather outside. Well done. The fairy lights are a great idea - you are right about the homey glow. People tend to overlook the importance of ambient lighting ... it makes such a difference to the 'feel' of a place. It's all about the mood lighting right! Thank you for the tour. The outside tour could have supplied a wee bit more info eg the materials the camper was constructed with (skin and insulation), how many solar panels , amp hours, battery type etc and how you had utilised the cab of your truck. I was also curious. .. did you install a fan at the back of it for venting your loo ... I noticed it was piped up to the roof. I thought you might have used the old black water 'hole' you covered to vent and installed a fan at the back of the loo. I guess venting at roof height minimises any 'back draft'! Also wondering where you store your generator ... you mentioned needing it if you need the furnace.

I usually don't like anything less than 22 feet vans because it is crammed. But yours is fabulous. You have thought of almost everything. You already have a bathroom door which separates it from the living area. So if you convert the entrance doorway into a shower the water can flow out in boondocking areas.

Hi i just came across your channel.. LOVE YOUR TRUCK CAMPER.. You have it nicely restored & decorated.. Looks like you are taking great care of your fur baby.. I did notice something in your Bathroom cabinet.. You need to place a good plastic bag over your heater to keep dust from falling on it.. This will make it last longer.. SAFE TRAVELS GOD'S BLESSINGS

It is hard to find. The company info on this camper is impossible to find anything on! It must have been a local RV company that didn't last long or something.

Very good well done tour.. I'm so proud of you kids.. I just thinking that someday if someone could paint that orange stripe the same color as you're truck and customize the camper to the truck. I think that would look so cool but that's for down the road when the Lord blesses you to where you can get something like that done.... Who knows you might cross paths with a person that watches your channel that's got a body shop and they get the idea and they want to bless y'all with a custom stripe.. But that's all in God's hands.... Well I pray you kids have the most awesome Merry Christmas ever.... Be blessed... BBE 🤗🤗👍👍😀 💗

The Mobile Hobos, sweet setup, you three! If I had your setup and felt the need to customize paint, I would keep the orange and match the truck to the camper! lol. I probably wouldnt worry because it looks pretty good on here. Safe travels!

I got a 1995 Chevy k1500. I have a Capri camper on top spray painted camo lol. It’s a pretty cool rig. Very simple. No grey water tank just flows out the truck.

I just watched a video from 9 months ago when you were chased by thugs. All I can say is that "it takes a real man to use his head" you made the right choice by avoiding conflict. You just might have saved you and your family's life that night. I applaud you for doing what you did🙂 May your travels be plentiful and blessed!!!
