Reminds me of driving truck here in the US some 35 years ago. My rig was a 'cabover' like yours, but our trailers were 16.2m long. My truck only had 325hp and a 9-speed transmission, and out maximum weight was around 38,000 kg. I had a couple of regular runs to and from auto factories; one was to a Ford plant in the Toronto area from northern Virginia, and the first one was from a supplier in Rochester NY to the Camaro plant in Ste, Therese, Quebec, Canada. Crossing the border was NEVER more than a 5 minute wait at any border crossing with automotive loads. I preferred driving in Canada, mostly because the drivers there were more professional, the roads were mostly better maintained, and the food was better, although more expensive. Still, I NEVER had to pay for parking in Canada...

Interesting, here we haven't got typical US or Canada trucks driving, because of fuel consumption, and size, so many streets and roads are made for old small cars, and now trucks are driving there literally inches from buildings or other objects. And time to cross borders is so different, few times it was literally 3/5 minutes, sometimes a day. I'm talking about Schengen borders inside European union, outside of EU and Schengen, it's completely different story, last time it took me 100hours, to cross TR BG border. I will upload movie from it, next week. Parkings are different in each county, but if you are getting closer to the border then you can 100% expect that every single one will be paid, even if it's without toilet, and it's basically piece of field converted into parking, even without concrete, it will be paid anyway, just because it's close to the border and trucks will park there anyway. Many countries are lacking of proper parking places close to Borders and on transit roads, there are plenty of private ones, and each of them is different, prices are usually similar, around 5 euro or 7 euro for night. Petrol stations are different in each country, in Poland I'm not paying for parking at petrol station, in Romania always everywhere, same in Bulgaria or Turkey.

@@DaniTravelson I used to avoid the Canadian customs at Windsor, ON just because it was VERY limited for space, and avoided the US customs at Buffalo, NY because they were @$$holes. Once, Canada Customs had a strike and all the cross-border bridges were closed, EXCEPT for the one that was in the middle of the Mohawk Native reserve (which was in both countries, and therefore that border crossing could NEVER close, by treaty).

Driving to Turkey and from Turkey, I always avoid Bors I border crossing between Romania and Hungary, it's old and shady, but if you have some problems it's easy there to "pay for entry". Between Romania and Bulgaria it doesn't matter, you have only two options, Ruse or Calafat, there are few other points with truck ferry for around 50euro, but we never go there. There is also third bridge close to black Sea but it's too far away so we never use it. And between Bulgaria and Turkey there are only two points where we cross, but entry point is always Kapikule, sometimes you pay 10euro to not have x-ray on Bulgarian side of border, but rest of it goes really well.
