Ever wonder what a day of trucking is like? You'll find out in this video. I am an independent owner operator and have been in operation since 2018. I usually pull a 48' flatbed. This time, I'll be pulling an RGN (removable gooseneck trailer) and hauling a Case loader. Enjoy, and don't forget to subscribe: / @aftersolo

Been there, done that. For me, I think you demonstrated how boring the life can be. Other than brief periods of excitement, a trucker's life is punctuated with years of monotony, leading to depression and ill-health. Personally, I didn't find it rewarding in the slightest, either financially or otherwise. Now I run a sawmill and a small excavation business and life is so much better. More power to you, brother.

That's awesome that you were able to find something you love. We're all different, so I get what you're saying. It is a lot of time just staring at the highway and being by myself. Luckily, I'm home pretty much every night. I sleep in the truck maybe 20 days every year at the most. I couldn't do over the road. I did it for 7 months in 09 and gained 20 pounds. I was miserable. I like it this way. I get to see my wife just about every day. Being an independent owner operator, I do all the mechanic work and paperwork too, so I stay busy. I love not having a boss. I'm just not cut out for that. I'm not much of a people person, so being by myself most of the day works out. I generally rub people the wrong way until they get to know me. I'm just not extroverted and not big on small talk. I ran heavy equipment as well for about 4 years and loved it, but the pay was bad and that equipment was tearing up my body. It was nice to have a care-free job though. That was nice. I didn't have so much surveillance and scrutiny and regulations to deal with running scrapers and dozers and such.

@@aftersolo I hear you, my friend. I wasn't an owner operator back in my 18-wheel days, but I guess you could say I am now. I have a dump truck w/trailer, an excavator, a tractor set up for logging and I own a sawmill. I'm also a builder, an electrician, I dabble in the real estate market and I enjoy restoring old houses. I'm completely self-employed and those weeks where I come up a little short of cash, my wife is a ICU nurse, so we can still put food on the table and keep the lights on, even if that means she has to pick up another shift! 😉 I guess you'll know it if the time comes when you need to shift gears. I did and I waited a little too long but finally switched up the dance card. I worked hard, got a little lucky and here I am. I might even have a few shekels to leave behind for some good cause. Health and peace brother!

Gday Mate Please don't take this the wrong way, i watched the whole video and found it to be dark and depressing, mainly due to the music choice and lack of speech. I have watched your tyre regrooving video so i that you aren't shy to talk, maybe it was meant to reflect your mood, i don't know ? This is just my opinion so please don't be upset by my comments, that's not my intention. Trucking can be lonely at times, but it is not all doom and gloom. If you didn't add music and just used the sound of the truck, maybe some commentary, I think this would be a much better video. Take Care Mate

Yeah. I rarely do videos like that. They take forever to edit. I like to mix it up occasionally and try new things.
