Grandpa gave me his 1966 C60 Farm Truck. Now will it run? Does the dump bed work? You’ll find out in the episode. Do you have a rare farm find or a dump of a dump truck?? -

Grandpa took good care of his tools. Revamp that baby and use it. Keep it stock, just freshened up with new wires, etc. Or, restore it and show it. That would be fantastic at shows.

Years ago, I worked for a farmer that had a 50's model GMC with a 302 V-6 in it. Was not fast at all. But you dump the clutch with a load of wheat in it. That truck would almost stand on the back bumper. In that grain truck if you needed to teach someone what torque, that was the one to do it with.

That’s how this truck is. Not fast but you can move a lot of weight with it

Fun fact: EVERY single person born in Iceland is related to each other at least down to the 8th generation - simply because there aren't many people around at all times. It's just a numbers game. ✌️ Even today Iceland has less than 400000 inhabitants. And thanks to the U.S. Army they had a boatload of leftover Jeeps after WWII - which started the love for offroading and is the origin for the Formula Offroad. 🤟
@JACKKNIFEMOTORS5 ай бұрын
That’s amazing! Why did the jeeps go there??
@2008mjb5 ай бұрын
That's a hard decision. As much as keeping it original and restoring it would be cool, I think you have to do what is needed to make it a work horse. If you want to keep it original, I would fix it up to be the scrap/dump run truck but make it run like new with a complete overhaul. Otherwise I would say to frame swap it but with a dump bed that has removable heavy duty sides for versatility. No matter what, honor it by using it.

I went to GM Technical Training in 1981 for this platform. If I remember, it has a Kiki diesel injection pump. I still have all the manuals. Didn't see a whole lot of them, but the were built like a Japanese tank. The bodies rusted away here in the midwest. Nissan also produced a competing model as well.

I also had a C60 but newer that I used mostly for firewood and would have loved that dump bed! I hope that you keep it original, it’s a fine example and in such great condition. There’s plenty of rusted frame, etc. ones that you could put on a newer chassis….

I enjoyed the family history. As for the truck, my vote is to keep it original. There are not many trucks out there that old that were taken care of like this one. Most are nothing but rusted scrap, that is held together by 4 things. Duck tape, bubble gum, bailing wire, and a prayer.
