This week I'm working on the Tacoma short bed camper build. I'm building and installing a custom solar power system into the back of my short bed Toyota Tacoma. This solar power system will give me the power that I will need for those long camping trips!!

Hi. Long time subscriber. You have great projects and content. I did a similar setup in my ram. Spent last January in cold cold Ohio where I realized my mistake. The battery wouldn’t charge near freezing temperatures. To get me through the winter I used a 12v heating blanket. For this reason I recently moved the setup into the back of the truck where I have temperature control. Now I’m able to keep everything warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

You don't need all that solar and battery stuff you have that pecron. All you need is that solar panel to charge it.

You were probably better off using a DC to DC charger, the problem with solar is you’ll need to park in the sun! I know I’ve dealt with solar for roughly 5 years in a minivan camper conversion, 600AH lithium battery setup 7.6KWH Good luck & be safe 16:41

I have all batteries at the tailgate end not in the cab , to easily pull and dump batteries for fire emergencies . Just a thought

Id build a cover for that battery or at least put some terminal protectors on it.

You are amazing. I’m learning so much. As I listen to you I hear excitement in your voice. As I listen to you the excitement builds within for me. I have been building up my new Hobie PA 14 360. I have New Port motor on the rear, 24v 100ah lithium in my black box; Garmin 9 SV mounted straight in front of me on anhorizonal h rail; with 12V 28 AH lithium handling my Fish finder and yak lights. I’m Vet 100% disabled with ver unstable legs, so I have the security standup ( modified greatly, lower and forward,and outriggers that are removable and can be quickly raised when running. I often put the outriggers down with the motor running very low. I can stand chunking and winding down a shoreline. I have horrible balance due to injuries and the bar in front and above my knees and the outriggers I’m cool and can fish with the best of them. I’m 76 and have fished all my life. The peace that fishing bring to my life can not be put into words. Listening and watching you in your videos is very meaningful. When I’m not on the water, your videos and others, make me feel as if I were there. Thank you and I hope to be competing with you in the KNF TOURNAMENTS. I’m in Texas and plan to be traveling and completing. Larry Moss

I’d recommend you get the BillieBars bed stiffeners, given you have the camper shell and other weight in the bed. They designed them to be non-intrusive and will work with your set up.

In real world, what will your battery setup allow you to do? How long do you think it would run your frig with little to no solar assist? I'm would like to do this as well depending on "payoff". Thank you and loved your clean look. Oh, thought you said in an earlier video you were planning on putting battery under bed in hidden cubb y (maybe a second battery?)

Such a clean build dude, the whole thing just looks amazing!! I think a nice touch would be to carpet those retaining blocks for the solar wall or maybe a dark stain even. Sweet build though bro!

What is the length of the truck bed , I’ve been looking at lots but the beds are short no way you could sleep in there . Maybe in the US the specs are different . Thanks 👍
