The Larsons are just loaded with valuable information these days. Chet with all his product improvements and Doug with great insight into proper towing technique. Just love his laconic speaking style that gets right to the key points without excess verbiage. It’s the rare video that I come away from without learning something new.

@@loriboyce942 Being a Patriot is good... Patriotic Nationalism will however lead to Fascism. Just be a Patriot and support your country, but embrace the world.... after all, Farmers sell their produce to "the world", and can't survive without world wide markets. Nationalism will kill those markets and just make the world a more dangerous place.

I agree, Thank you Chet, and for everyone else. America is the greatest nation on earth, not because we are better people than anyone else but rather because America is the beacon for freedom for the rest of the world to follow our lead, thus and in the end make the whole world better for all people. We are currently in some fairly tumultuous times but this too will pass fairly soon. But it's important to know and to remember, It is "We The People" not "We The Government"

Chet, Dougo, the way to use a yank em rope is to leave some slack in the rope, the towing vehicle then starts moving and when the rope tightens the energy is transferred to the stuck vehicle without causing any hard shock to either vehicle, there is less chance of damage and the towing vehicle has the momentum built up to recover without getting stuck also.

Good thing you guys are explaining about chains and pulling safety. I found myself explaining that to somebody that knew but "all caught up" in the moment and I had to say about stepping out of the "Bite" , we were pulling with 1/2 cable and a steel pulley that was OK but not the best. It all went OK. But the main part of my story is back in 1974. I was cutting wood. I had my home-built wagon parked in a neighbors back yard. The ground was kinda soft when the wagon was parked. Now the ground was frozen solid...around the front wheels. I put the tire chains on my 1939 JDB and hooked up my biggest-best chain (some of that chain was blacksmith-made), I gave a gentle pull...nothin, backed up a few feet and gave a good tug with that tractor. That chain broke back by the wagon hitch..... flew straight and level a few inches off the frozen driveway ground, pulled tight on the tractor clevis, and settled onto the ground. WOW..., chains do carry alot of energy. I bolted my chain back together and pulled separate front wheels. The axles were from an old threshing machine and they were rugged. I could pull each wheel separately. I got that load loose and delivered. Yea... these young guys need to respect pulling chains. Keeep it Movin !!!!

Hey guys I'm a new subscriber I was watching an older video from this summer and you had a flat tire on your water trailer. Chet you were tightening the nuts and you must of run out of air. You said I wish we had a bigger air compressor. On our farm we put a second tank without a compressor next to our air compressor and hooked them together for more air volume that makes such a huge difference for taking nuts off of truck tires or any tire for that matter you can go a lot longer without running out of air. Just wanted to share, it works great. I farm about 3.5 hours straight north of you guys. Love your channel.

"Never back with a loaded truck, or you may be parted from your mudflaps" From one Douglas to another I've been down that road with a pickup... Twice! First time backed the Dually into a hole just right that it ripped the driver side flap off. Sometime later did the same thing in a parking lot by backing up into a space and the curb pushed the flap up against the duals and ripped it right off. That was also the driver side flap.

Way back in the early '70's there was this stump dump place. When land was cleared this place would accept stumps logs dirt, whatever was in the truck. The place was famous for ripping the front end off the trucks that got stuck either full or empty. The dozer operator had this talent for pulling at just the wrong time. He would hook up with a 1" wire rope choker and when the truck tried to start in it's rut in the soft ground which was 8-10 inches deep. You could see the truck start to climb out and the truck driver would push in the clutch and as the truck fell back into the rut the dozer would pull and the weight of the truck going backwards would yank the front bumper and sometimes some frame would get yanked right off the truck. The truck drivers would think it was their fault right up too the second time they got stuck and got their brand new front end yanked off a second time.
