Any business at all has the right to avoid doing business with NY. A lot of people are now walking away from NY, and they are not all republicans. Many former democrats say they will now no longer vote democrat because of these low ball tactics against political opponents. It’s unAmerican. Doesn’t mean they will vote Trump, but some said they now will vote for him.

I've heard from several truckers who have delivered to NY city for a long time. They claim that it's a pain in the ass driving in NY city because of tight spaces and tight maneuvering with tons of traffic across the bridges high toll fees. They say if truckers who are not familiar with driving there even though they will get great pay to do it they are in for a surprise. It's not easy with these huge trailers.

You can definitely tell who the democrat on the panel is. And to that guy, I say this. If Trump committed fraud, which there was actually no trial for, the judge just summarily made that verdict, then every real estate developer has committed fraud. You obviously do not know how the real estate development game works. And if the banks give loans without doing their due diligence to value the property being used as collateral, then that is on them. By the way, that same judge valued Mar-A-Lago at 18 million dollars. There is a 1.24 acre lot on the beach for $74,500,000, and you want to agree with the judge that Mar-A-Lago, a 20 acre property from beach to beach. Hell, there is a 2,000 sq-ft house right next to Mar-A-Lago sitting on .77 acres valued at $25,000,000.

That will go over like a lead balloon. I have friends that are very experienced drivers that work for companies, and they have always refused NYC after going there once or twice. It’s a nightmare to drive a truck in NYC. New drivers would just leave their trucks in the middle of the road and walk. It’s not an easy job, hence the reason many people do not want to do it, even though the pay is good.

My Dad was a trucker for 40 years, when the unions were strong people do not understand how power truckers can have, I lived in NYC for 3 years when I was Army recruiter , just like Hank Williams JR said NYC is not the big apple but one big Hassle. I got my orders to leave NYC and I drove away from Fort Hamilton, and I saw NYC in my review mirror it was one the best days of my life.

As a Driver, it's not news to realize that if truckers stopped the deliveries, the country shelves would be barren. Look at the crisis of toilet paper during the Pandemic. The Freight Waves guy is partially correct that you will have people delivering to NYC without a care. However, on the macro level, even if you have 10% of loads not being delivered AND other businesses being inspired to leave, NYC will be rocked financially. So, to the panel guy at 3:04 playing it off as if it's a joke, just think of the Canadian convoy and the ramifications that had on Trudeau's government.

Chris Stirewalt: 1. There is a national shortage of truckers. All of those truckers not going to NYC will find work. 2. New truckers don't fall from the sky. And NYC can only feed itself for about a week. 3. These truckers believe in this cause. Most won't be swayed by more $$$. 4. About 73% of domestic freight is moved by trucks. Only about 16 percent of all truckers in the United States are owner operators. Prices are set by supply-demand. I assure you there's not an infinite number of owner-operators, therefore the price elasticity of the contracts is can't be flat. If half of the owner-operators refuse to take long-haul shipments to NY, what happens to the rates? Does the shipping price double?

As was stated, there is a shortage of truck drivers. A host was saying he believes companies could hire truckers. Number one, there aren't any, obviously. No. 2; if there are it would be ' job' death for anyone who was seeking a driving position, equal to crossing a picket line. IMO.
