Yes, Sally glad to hear the good news that the truck is sold, several family members have been down that road one stayed in for 40 years. He used to tell me take the T & R out of Trucking and replace it with a F and that is what happens now days to Owner Operators. Everyone has their hand out sucking the money out of you. I got out of running my own truck ages ago. The middle men take all of the money while we do all the work. Now I deliver new trucks when I need cash. All the truck bills and breakdowns are someone else's problem. I just spend the rest of my time living in the shed with my bikes or out riding. You know how it is, live cheap or spend your whole life as a slave to pay for stuff.

I got alot of potatoes out of Alamosa, going all over. Once you get out of Colorado, you can get good loads. But you have to get to know them. What I saw was the younger guys just wanted to go home. I saw alot of ladies out there. It’s not a funjob anymore. You did good !!

Yep! The single biggest problem with making it O/O trucking today is brokers. The feds "tried" to pass a transparency law to make it possible for the TRUCKER to see what the SHIPPER paid for the load. Sorry you had to live it. I still am😅

The industry is tough right now. To make it you have to think outside the box. We are our own company as well. We went a different direction hauling cryogenic gases. You have to find what works for you. Sometimes it’s not always trucking.

Sleep in a comfortable bed every night and keep teaching folks bike stuff. It's the right thing to do.

I was getting unloaded, and this dude with a towel around his head came up to me and said, " i will give you $100 if you would back my truck into dock." That's sad to hear that about the industry. I remember my dad bringing home almost 6 digits a year as an owner operator when I was a kid. The current politicians have always been hard at work to keep anyone from getting ahead and getting payed for what they're worth. I get it though; do what you love to do while you can still do it.

I sold my truck in 2022. Miss the road but not the brokers. They can piss off. The insane laws and regulations and the gov has to get their chunk of the pie. I dont regret selling my KW. Interesting thing is I make the same money now as a local semi driver as I did as a O/O (after expenses). You guys made a good decision...

Thanks, I've been hoping for a trucking update. I bought a 1995 379 and if it wasn't just me and my puppy pretty much living on the road, the rates are still low and I would probably go do construction again until they increase. That's truckin'. I ride too and will have my scoot behind the sleeper again. Then I find loads to where I want to stop and go riding and explore. So kinda the same but different. The Series 60 in this old Pete is doing alright so far. The specs aren't Rocky Mountain worthy but plenty of loads down south that are paying decent. It's more about the freedom for me. ✌️ Happy Trails

You guys have done well. Got a cool truck made some money learnt some stuff while doing it, had some fun along the way. You've improved the condition of the truck and now you'll sell it for more than you paid for it! Win win. I've been driving trucks for around 25 years and as well as earth moving machinery. The trucking is real hard to make money off especially now it's really not worth it IMO. I'm unfortunately going to sell my old rig too, probably in a year. It's quite cool and I like it too. like yours is a classic now same motor as yours but it's a 94 Western Star. Solid as truck will miss it but it will have to go eventually. Always thought the roughest part of trucking would be the health effects of sitting down so much of the day. I quit office work because it was messing up my health that way.

Good morning, sally , sorry to hear that it as not worked out for you both as trucker , that road/bridge closure was the worst thing that could have happened, there is so many rules regulations nowadays, set out for safety aspect, Insurances, et cetera, fuel cost, And the end of the day, they’re not providing you with services, i.e. where you can park up safely for rest periods the cost of components nowadays is extortionate, As you know, I live in France, I’ve been virtually all over Europe riding my bike, and I must say the row systems over here are amazing, parking facilities, shower cubicles toilets, et cetera, are all provided for not only for the normal road user but for truckers as well, Let’s hope you get a good deal with your truck get some money back into your , I’ve slagged my guts out all my life, and do not have a lot to show for it, I tried to build my business up, to put money into two properties, then got scammed by my ex female partner, So it’s just not in business that you can get scammed on but to get scammed by your rel and your partner I think is the pits, Little bit of update on my bike , it’s poorly, 😷, It wasn’t running properly when I purchased it, Then I found out it needed a new dry belt, and now I found out it needs new sprockets as well, so penny in a pound, I’ve taken all the primary side off now waiting for parts, HD have told me 4 to 6 weeks for the spares to come in for my bike, not good, so as I’m working on it, I’m trying to replace things that should be give me better service over the years, so where I can on replacing bearings and obviously main seals as well, I did go out last week and purchased a huge three-quarter rinse drive socket set, undone that big nut on the output shaft, 😂, Obviously, you can make more money repairing and rebuilding bikes , this is obviously the best way to go, I wish you all the success for the future for both of you , Life is big learning curve, And you only here once, Stay safe, ride free, France.

It's not bad out there. Been trucking for 12 years. Retirement in 2001. I have friends still trucking and there doing good. Not going to get rich. But it's a decent living.

Been to all lower 48 in my Freightliner & reefer. I stayed out of CA. Fuel is too expensive. And sisnce my truck was from Colorado. EVERYTIME I went out there you get pulled in for inspection. I got so many tickets for nothing. Valve cap on one of the trailer wheels, dirt on the top of the motor. “It’s leaking !!!” It was just road dirt. SoI got my truck washed every week and had them spray off the motor everytime. It was too time consuming. Speed limit is 55 cars do 75 fuel was mostly over $5/gal. I retired about 6 years ago. The truck & road didn’t bother me, it was the companies. Walmart, the worst, and many of the other big companies. My Dad made a lot of money back in the 60’s & 70’s. My broker in Denver was great at helping me. But he is making less money than before with his 15 trucks. My broker cost me 15% and since I owned my rig, he helped me by putting me with his trucks for insurance. And charged me a small amount to figure the road taxes and helped me with a fuel card so I got a great discount. He was great. I couldn’t have done it without him. But I had a couple heart operations. So I called it quits. I put a million miles on my rig, and I had a great truck shop here in Colorado Springs that did most of my work. They would tell me sometimes, keep your eye on this, but it’ll be fine for another 6months to a year. So maybe I was lucky at finally finding good people to work with. But the business out there sux.

The whole country is suffering under the Socialist Democratic government if you remember before Trump the country was in the same way. I would urge you to not sell the truck wait for things to pick up and do some research as to what brokers are good. I follow a couple trucking channels and the ones in the US are talking about there not being loads available but the one that I follow in Canada is working solid so that should tell you something.
