My company brought 3 brandnew 2023 Mac frontloader trucks. I was one of the people who got one. First thing I noticed after a week is newer is not always better. I was barely getting in 8 tons. My 2 load days was turning in to 5 load days. I couldn’t idle pack. The rpm automatically revs to 15 when packing. Which is ok during the day but 3am trying to pack and the truck roars like that is not good. Long story short I took my old truck back😂.

I feel your pain there. A good packing truck makes a world of difference. We had an early morning trick for those auto rev packers when I first drove one for DeKalb County Sanitation. If you drive with two feet, you can hold the brake and put it in drive and it will pack at idle. Just have to remember to put it back in neutral when you're done.

If you're still in this truck, check for a switch by your right elbow, says "cab control." Flipping that lets you rev without pulling the parking brake. It's a silly Peterbilt thing

That's why I love mcneilus because they've never changed their trucks like Bay Disposal 251 that truck tends to ride pretty smoothly and they're Heil trucks are pretty decent as well.

I like Heil, but they're doing too much extra stuff on the newer bodies that we don't want or need.

I drive a ‘22 autocar acx with a half pack. So far no rev issues like that yet. Had it for about 8 months now. Packs like a champ for a 28yd

Hmm, maybe it's a Peterbilt thing then. Does yours have an air or electric joystick? Pratt just got 11 new trucks in, all with electric joysticks.

I'm working with Pratt right now. I have to figure out what is exactly going on with my truck. I use my pickup to service the stops I have left on the weekend.
