Trucking with Cool Hand Macc: Intro to Electric Blue

Hey gang, we start things off with a fairly new CNG powered GiFfLe FEL followed by the new assigned truck 2151 aka "Electric Blue".
She's a 2023 Battle Motors LET2 with a 45yd. Heil Half/Pack Sierra with the electric Odyssey control system. This was my first day out in her on Tuesday and the joystick was a bit tedious to learn as you all can see me struggling a little with it bringing cans down.The forks were actually operating backwards, but Carlton at CES talked me through how to correct that later that morning. The joystick is small and extremely sensitive, so if it's even slightly off from the plus pattern it will do what it wants to do. I feel an air joystick is more precise but not as fast as the electric version.
Overall, I really like this truck, especially in comparison to the MRU EZ Pack I drove last. Hope you all enjoy, be blessed everyone.

Regardless of what that badge says on the front, the truck is still a CCC! Great content as always! What made Pratt buy these as opposed to the MRUs? Here in Savannah, we love us some CCCs lol!

😆 I feel the same way. There are still a lot of supply chain issues and back logged truck orders causing serious delays, some I've heard up to 3yrs, on new trucks. Pratt wanted new Macks but couldn't get them on time so they went with Battle. Next spring the new Macks should start arriving, around 30 trucks.

Yea man I drive an 08 Mack/McNeilus and it at times struggles with those large pieces of cardboard that the customers don't cut down, and I have a couple of stops that have three 8 yd's that are back to back and at times it takes me at least a few minutes to pack those cans down.

She's temporarily out of service due to transmission issues. I hope to have her back running soon. Thanks brother, I am glad you enjoy them.

@@iambmccoullum I did, until I worked briefly with a small redi hauler...it left a bad taste in my mouth,, so I decided to stay with commercial for now.

So glad this truck's working well for you brotha! And man does that X12 have some serious power! It seems like it takes off real quick! I can only imagine how that smooth ride feels, I bet it's absolutely amazing - as if you're floating on air! Now, I posted a comment on the previous video of this truck, don't know if you saw it...

Hi Sean! Yes! It truly does. Doing 200+ miles/12 or more hours daily, it's nice to be in a truck that rides smooth & is spacious and doesn't beat your body to pieces. No , I didn't see it just yet but I will check now.

Do you prefer your FL having hooks at the end of the forks or flattened down?

We deal with larger stationary cans on the east coast so the hooks definitely help. If I were on a route with a large amount of smaller cans on castors, I would prefer the latter.

Still going, the Mack is down until I can get it repaired; having transmission issues. I no longer subcontract for the other haulers & just concentrate on my stops using my pickup truck in the meantime.

Bet you guys would love turnable rearwheel steering on those trucks... man the tight spots you guys have to wrestle yourself out of! (almost like nearly every street here in europe ;) )

Just found your channel and liking the content! glad the new truck is working out for you. in my area all the MRFs sell their baled cardboard and paper to a pratt mill but pratt doesn't collect any material themselves, so interesting to see. Also wondering do companies not offer single stream recycling (for plastic, glass, metal, etc) there? I noticed all the cans are marked cardboard only. interesting to see the differences in collection across the country.

Thank you and welcome aboard 😎 After China sent the market into the gutters site years back, singlestream became an unwanted commodity. especially glass. Most MRFs refused to take glass & actually treat singlestream as trash nowadays, charging haulers to dump it. OCC is still the big dog so to speak.

That’s about all the further the half pack I drive goes. Had the truck for almost a year now and still can’t get it bang a box. Can just do a quick rev with the forks once it’s up to get a decent little slam

I hope the packer can be adjusted like on the older ones. A friend at WM told me his will bang cans now, just took a long time before it would.

My favorite 5 axle truck I worked on was at GFL truck came from Sterling Heights an old MR tag axle rear loader, best part about that day truck broke down after we loaded/finished our route, and we got paid all day to be broke now help never showed up, what a Good Friday lol. I believe it was 471

I've had people try to jump in the truck in the past. Other night drivers I know have been shot & robbed. Working nights in certain areas it's best to protect yourself as best you can.

@@Asainmaihappens a lot. An older gentleman I know was shot through the cab door, drug our of the truck at gun point and forced to withdraw money from an ATM because like most of us, we don't carry money on us. A roll off driver was ambushed while trying to disconnect a compactor, badly beaten and robbed, the thieves took his license and his dispatchers foolishly asked if he could drive the truck back to the yard. There are countless other events here in Atlanta. This is why I was taught and why I stress to trainees to never turn your back on an enclosure after you open the gates, especially night city routes.

Thank you kindly. So far I like it a lot. Great turning radius, comfortable, and good packing truck. The Odyssey joystick is a little different but I'm adjusting to it.
