One thing to note is the 14hrs is not a max on-duty rule, you just can't drive after 14 consecutive hours of coming on duty. You don't have to finish post-trip inspection etc and "on-duty tasks" within the 14hrs, but they will count towards your 60 or 70, and of course your 10 hrs starts once you go off duty

A driver can be On Duty even if the 14 or 70 is exhausted. There is no violation for being On Duty past the clocks. Drive puts a driver violation, On Duty will not. There is no 14 hour per day work limit.

Dunno, splits help me out a great deal. They are not that complicated at the end of the day. All you gotta do is subtract whatever you used from 14 and 11 to plan for the next part. Who does need to get fired tho is someone who decides they can hold up a truck at a dock for several hrs and expect the cargo to be delivered on time, safely and with a happy smile. My favorite part is trying to get rested while getting loaded a pallette at a time every 15-30 min.

Ok, so how do you fill out the blanks on Daily Hours of Service? Are you suppose to do that? I just came back to drive and I'm learning this qualcom. I was doing paper logs when I had gotten off from trucking. So you go to your main menu. Click on Messages. Then click Compose and you'll see the Daily Hours of Service. When you click that, you will see 2 rows of blanks with date and time descrptions. Can you do a video on that. Nobody is mentioning it in their videos. I've been searching and nothing on that option.

@other2291
@other2291 Ай бұрын
You're right. It doesn't count against the 14hrs... in her scenario the driver has remaining 11hrs total 8 of them driving and not 8hrs 8 driving that she had on her screen.

At 22:28, you claim the “Off Duty” time counts AGAINST the shift clock. Please confirm this IS NOT true?
@minniegerber736
@minniegerber736 2 жыл бұрын
Your shift clock starts and does not stop until the 14 hours end even when you are off duty, on duty, driving, break, lunch, etc. The only time off duty is not counted towards the 14 hr shift is when the off duty is paired with a correct sleeper berth period (7/3 or 8/2) or after a 10 hr break. Hope this helps!

So if you're on split sb and want to to go back to 10-14 you have to take 10hrs of consecutive sleeper berth or off duty to reset your hrs to drive again right?

So does that mean if I take 7hrs of sleep time after every 8hours of driving does that mean I can actually keep driving 8hours at a time after every 7hours of sleep time. Like 7hous of sleep/rest then drive for 8 hours then again sleep 7hours/rest off duty I get to do another 8hours of driving which would total driving time as 16 hours a day? Please let me know 🙏 I understand you have a company truck and drivers if you need one more driver let me know haha

Are there exemptions to having to fill these forms out? Like under certain miles if your local and drive a truck thats older than the year 2000?
@michaelharris1455
@michaelharris1455 Жыл бұрын
There is the 150 mile rule; operating the truck within a 150 mile radius of it's home base/terminal will exempt you from needing a logbook. The age of the truck will not give you an exemption.

@tothepoint8904
@tothepoint8904 Жыл бұрын
Yes and No. They tell you some of this information, but you also have to know it, or go into the Rules section of the elogs to get a refresher. If you aren't keeping track of your activities it isn't hard to get a HOS violation on the elog. They could make it better. Also, mine doesn't have a way to tell it I'm driving 2 extra hours due to adverse conditions, so not sure how that will go over if I ever have to use it.

the 30 minute break rule proves the fact that the government is prejudice against truck drivers. Nowhere else in other businesses are employees penalized for taking any kind of lunch. Their lunch break means off duty and they are not paid for it. Drivers pay for it with lost time from the 14 hour clock. Be nice if a lawsuit could be filed for prejudicial treatment. - Scorpio

What happens if I run out of hours on Day7? Can I still reclaim my 13.5 hrs from Day1 on Day8? You confuse things by throwing in a "non-working Day7", which is 24hrs. From your example it looks as if it would be atleast 34hrs from the end of shift on Day6 until he could start work on Day8 anyway....So this doesn't appear to help.
