A funny thing about truffle hogs is that unlike trained dogs, they search for truffles mainly to eat them. So if you have one "helping" you, you need to be fast with your fingers to keep it from eating the truffle once it has found it. However, I remember reading sometimes you have to let them eat some of it or have a treat prepared, because otherwise they stop digging for them if you're around.

Pigs can do short term cost benefit analysis, if only they could do long term cost benefit analysis they'd liberate themselves and eat all the truffles themselves. But hey that only makes them as smart as most humans.

My wife has wanted a "mini-pig" for years. We finally got one. They really are super smart. Probably the smartest animal I've ever had. They also do not stay "mini" for very long.😂

@@0x73V14 Incorrect. It's literally called a mini-pig. It's an actual breed. Mini pig, teacup pig, micro pig... They just don't stay "mini". But compared to a 700lb pig, a 60lb pig is definitely mini.

@@pavelb7206 I believe the size of a pot bellied pig or mini pig is very dependent on the individual size of it's parents I'd say they probably top out at about 250 lb which is basically like a really big dog in terms of weight but in terms of volume they are about the size of an average dog

I once saw a sow with at least 5 of her piglets when I was traveling with my classmates to a local wildlife refuge in Oklahoma. They all ran away as soon as they saw us and two of the piglets did a cute cartoon run where they ran in place like looney tunes style and ran with their little lives to catch up to their momma. My professor immediately said to head back to the van as fast as we can, since it meant that the 600+ lb male boar is probably nearby and we didn't want to encounter him.

Love all the True Facts! But zefrank1, you forgot to mention this episode how if a domesticated pig gets loose, it will physically change into a boar. Like, it's skin will get tougher, it suddenly groes more hair, and it's aggression goes way up. 'imagine if you went camping and came back transformed into an angry chimpanzee. That is how the pig do'

Grew up in a farm and cared for pigs: NEVER, EVER, SAW A PIG EAT POOP. And they naturally keep as clean as they can. Chickens do eat everything, poop included.

@@crazytigerspy9420 not really honestly I'm bored easily if I'm not interested. Which might seem childish from a point view but if I compare KZfaq to high school. In 20 minutes I've learned to rewire my e bike to add an extra battery and after that changed the frame and transferd the thing. I didn't know anything about electricity and now I've learned something different then surfing snails. I'm bored easily and visual representation while explaining it with a story/joke for 1-7 Times makes it stick better while laughing. It's like more senses are engaged cumulative with a happy memory/stimulus. IQ can improve,the hard ware Seems to matter but the software is a pretty plastic in a way more significant way.

My father and a buddy of his ran into a wild pig while they were out hunting squirrels once, the pig charged them and they had to run. They were only carrying small pistols and it took both of them running and emptying both of their clips into the pig to get it to stop. They were in the Marines at the time and they took it back to base and cooked it up so it wasn't wasted. Pigs are scary in the wild.
