I loved it! It was a pleasant surprise, and heartfelt and the acting was surprising. The ending was short and maybe it was a little unsatisfying but I didn't dislike it. It was a good watch and I'd watch it again. 9/10 would recommend and Hailee steinfeld was amazing in this role.

Props to you for giving props to Hailee Steinfeld. She is definitely one to keep an eye on career wise. On another note, I really hope you have a job in a movie theater, at least part time to save money on all the movies you attend. I worked at one for awhile and it was one of the few perks.

Awesome tacular easily... Entertaining, hilarious, superbly acted, directed well, best cinematography I've seen in 2 decades, just s great movie surpasses the original because they made cogburn what he was in the book, a scoundrel... I loved bridges as cogburn in this movie and the way he portrayed cogburn was spot on. I loved john Wayne's version of cogburn as well but overall to me it's like ledgers joker vs nicholsons joker I can't say Wayne is better because of nostalgia.. This cogburn is more gritty and realistic and I don't see bridges I see cogburn with Wayne's cogburn I see john Wayne being a bad ass like I see jack Nicholson as just jack Nicholson just being himself... Wayne is my 2nd favorite western star behind Eastwood, and I personally love him more than the dude but overall bridges is a more layered actor and brought more to the part...

one thing is for certain this remake was so good it actually compares to the original and in some aspects surpasses the original.... i own copys of both ....and enjoy both but must admit this one seems to have nearly identical dialogue and follows the book more so than the original...only thing that i would have liked to have seen is them use the original shoot out location in this one ..

One of my most favorite movies of all time. I've seen it over and over and over. I've had the 1080p file on thumb drive for years. Finally bought the blu ray. Love all the extra features. Haley Steinfeld's Mattie Ross absolutely sells this movie. Jeff Bridges is phenomenal, of course, but without Haley, this movie doesn't come off anything like it did. And it was her very first feature film role! It is just unbelievable how good she is. Matt Damon's character was comedy relief, but Haley and Jeff had such a wonderful thing going on. It's awesome. 2010 had good movies come out. I'm thinking Despicable Me and this one.

@KayWildcat It's just like the end of Dark Knight, where Batman becomes the "villain" in order to preserve people's faith in the possibility of good. In the movie, Dr. Manhattan becomes a "villain" to the world in order to give the world something to unite against. I prefer that to the idea of some "alien attack" that the comic uses. It works in the comic because it is yet another comic book trope that is deconstructed by Moore. Still, a brilliant ending.

Let me just say, this is not my kind of movie. I'm more into the sci-fi/fantasy crowd, and this movie freakin' blew me away. I mean it was gritty, real, and the little girl and Jeff Bridges had better get Oscar nods for their parts. It's funny, because I saw Tron Legacy a few days ago, so now I know just how great an actor Jeff Bridges is.

It's interesting how he mentions the ending of True Grit as good in exception to the endings of other Coen Brothers movies, when I feel the exact opposite. No Country for Old Men, Burn After Reading, and A Serious Man all ended the way they had to - perfectly. True Grit ended far too soon and was extremely by the numbers by comparison to the way stories generally play out in most other Coen Brothers films.
