How do I deal with a husband? That’s very narcissistic to me, and I am his caregiver pretty much on every level.

1 Peter 3 In the same way, you wives, be subject to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won over without a word by the behavior of their wives, 2 as they observe your pure [a]and respectful behavior. 3 Your adornment must not be merely the external-braiding the hair, wearing gold jewelry, or putting on apparel; 4 but it should be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. 5 For in this way the holy women of former times, who hoped in God, also used to adorn themselves, being subject to their own husbands, 6 just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; and you have proved to be her children if you do what is right [b]without being frightened by any fear. And PRAY from the bottom of your soul!

That makes no sense. Not even God's love is "unconditional". God's offer of salvation to all is unconditional, but it's only effective if you respond in belief and repentance. "Redemptive love" is doormat fodder. And that's no what God wants in marriage. Bad behavior needs to be confronted, and if it's not, you're not loving your spouse right because you're allowing them to get away with it. Is that how you respond when your children misbehave? No. So why let your spouse get away with it? If you're always responding in "redemptive love" you will never get your needs met and you will continuously reward your spouse for their bad behavior. And they will take advantage of you. That's not what being a leader or a protector is. I get so sick and tired of Christians warping marital love into something it's not. Marriage is a vow to meet each other's needs and avoid hurting each other. And when those things aren't met, the marriage suffers. And nowhere in the Bible does it say to placate to your spouse when they treat you like garbage.
