What’s amazing about this, is Truman had no idea the concept of reality television, and yet he was still able to pick up that things weren’t right, his entire life and he still figured it out,

Considering how some audiences REALLY want to know what happens with Truman and his love interest, I find it fascinating how they actually DON'T fulfill that arc because Truman is no longer shackled by reality television anymore. @AlmightyArceus Жыл бұрын
This rescoring really suits the mood a lot more imo. The original cut has a very turn of the century almost optimistic existential tone to it, like there’s a build to the music and his realization, but it’s also energized, inspired, evoking the idea of original thought. Here, it is a much more solemn realization that every original thought Truman has thought he has had is actually manufactured and manicured for him by the world around him.
@crimsonfox87fluxule62 Жыл бұрын
Holy Jesus that's the whole point that the movie is trying to make. It's the same thing with our reality, advertisements life experiences, everything is manufactured to be exactly what you want because you are the biggest product on the planet. What do you think companies are spending literal billions of dollars trying to get you to buy something? They understand human psychology like no one else and we're Lab rats to them. And we're nothing but pay pegs because we are given an artificial choice between two things that are owned by the same person. We may not be the main characters of our own little Truman show realities, but we are the product that is selling things like Truman is.
@missym877 Жыл бұрын
It doesn’t though. I mean great for this clip but the movie is suppose to have that optimism because that’s the fake reality he’s been living under…he’s living within a paradigm where everything is “great.” If this music we’re playing in the original it be a bit tooo on the nose. Also, the director didn’t want this to be some sci fi thriller, which is why the choices were made as they were.

If you had a global viewership of ten million round the clock (0.15% world population at the time), and a product placement every minute, that would be about ten thousand dollars per minute or 14 million dollars a day. At $200/day for extras, 10% of the daily revenue dedicated to extras would be enough to pay for 7000 extras, or more than enough for a small town. Regulars such as his wife, friends, co-workers, and various family members might be making $2000 a day or more.

When I first watched the movie (like almost 30 years ago) I though "omg... that could be real" now, working on TV the mere idea is ridiculous, the amount of extras, the amount of technical issues that could happen, could you imagine the legal issues if only one extra got crash by one of those fake busses? This is a producers worst nightmare

Not to mention that not even a person like Tiffany (New York) could hold a 35 years old top reality show. Truman life was really boring.
@valshiro515 Жыл бұрын

@patrykchlipaa2572 жыл бұрын
!!!SPOILER's AHEAD!!! It's weird how actors playing weren't really told how by the producer how to manage his unusual behavior. No scripts for when he starts to find different things, only 1 supervisor per whole studio basically. I'm shocked he managed over 10k days without noticing it with such shortsighted producers. Even with real world reality TV people inside often wonder what is real and it can be so well scripted it is resembling reality so well, while here they were simulating guy's whole life, yet had easy access in a building like that. Why won't pick a staircase? Similarly no real world people mess, like when I would do stuff like that I will every day pick a 10 random pedestrians to make 10 random things like dropping phone, hitting a curb or tying shoes. Would be very refreshing. Same for the radio starting mid-word or teaching actors to react normally like no driver would just sit on their ass when someone runs in front of a bus - would be tons of fuck offs and watch outs you prick. Those tiny details are missing(last one surely to be family friendly, but in general others are doable easily) and made Truman believe in the idea that something's off. I guess maybe that was a plan for producers to make show less boring, as we see routine and boredom all over the plan. But they overplayed and it ended with nice finale for Truman's Show!
