It will backfire BIG TIME on the left. Impeachment didn't allow witnesses for a reason. PANIC OF EXPOSURE. A criminal trial would do just that. EXPOSURE, with nothing the left can stop. That's why I believe in term limits for everyone in politics - being in office indefinitely breeds corruption, and the belief that you can do or say any outrageous thing and get away with it. It doesn't make sense that the president is the only one whose time in office is limited to 8 years, while those in Congress and The Senate can be in office for many decades.
