The US spends $766 Billion per year on military. So $7 Billion is about 3 days worth of spending. Which is more absurd, leaving $7 billion of junk behind after 20 year war, or spending $7 billion every ~3 days?

Biden was gesturing at a crowd that surrounded the stage. For some odd reason, fox news decided they wouldn't show the zoomed out shot where it's clear, he's addressing the crowd. Its a difficult thing to shake completely. What's Trump's excuse? I'm not sure why you guys keep calling him Bejing Biden, other than you're just repeating Trump like a parrot. My first deployment in 2011, I FOUND an APU to an Apache helicopter that's about $250k.... Just buried out in the dirt past our flight line. The date on the parts tag was 2007! Found even more parts buried out there in the 10s of thousands of dollars. Looked like the unit from back then decided to bury and forget it instead of attempt to clear customs-- which, to be fair, I would do every day of the week if I could. I once spent 7 12hr long shifts cleaning a servocylinder enough to pass customs. Nothing can enter the U.S with even a SPECK of dust of drop of fluid/grease. A component that is nothing but a reservoir or pump on a vehicle with intricate mechanisms inside will have you wanting to just walk off into the desert to die after it's been kicked back from customs every single day for a week. Day 6 I had it clean enough but my finger split open and bled inside... It was so hot my blood was like water and spread quicker than I could clean it up. My second deployment 2/3 of the base had been disassembled, but instead of doing something constructive with the storage containers and makeshift housing, it was thrown into about a 1/2mi long ditch. I thought it was maybe going to be a dump where they would bury it, but I kept thinking about all the housing insecure countries that surrounded us that would benefit so much from these buildings. In 2014 we knew that we were leaving military vehicles and equipment behind-- it cost too much to transport back and pass customs, and it was all obsolete, anyways. This isn't a blame on the Biden administration. There were 0 helicopters left behind that are NEW models, and the ones left were already designated. Tanks have been getting phased out since 2010. Trailers, heavy mechanic equipment, etc has all had a HARD life being used specifically as deployment gear and costs far more to transport back than it's worth. 0 small arms were left behind, along with ammo. Comms equipment is so VERY specific for use with our own equipment, but again, that stuff was all so old. New comm equipment a lieutenant would rather die over than leave behind because it's THAT expensive and signed to THEM. Some things can always be repurposed and rewired, but it can't be used "right out the box" like it's intended to. Most importantly, our engineers we do business with are such jerks that every model, brand, component, has different incredibly expensive parts, nuts/bolts/washers/shims/gaskets, and most things require specialized tools and equipment to fix and maintain (as well as training) that I don't envy anyone trying to figure out how to work or fix something, or even what it is. SOLDIERS don't even know how to fix and maintain most of those vehicles and machines. We just went along breaking stuff, costing everyone money. Oh well. At least it's finally over... For now.

Ima just say what that first news lady was right on the money about. Most military gear is worth a lot less in reality than on paper. It could be $7billion on paper but in reality is worth closer to $35million. This is because we DO have extremely precise maintenance (imagine your car but it's owned and driven by the dealership and inspected daily, even more so weekly, and extremely detailed inspections are done monthly). This gear has been reused sometimes as far back as Vietnam and is still serviceable today. If it goes without this maintenance which the U.S. military teaches to its members, it will break down within weeks. With this maintenance, most of our gear lasts up to 50 years and occasionally more. Think about how humvees run $5k on auction but the military purchased them in the 6 figures. It's not worth much when you don't know how to use it. Source: I am a mechanic in the Marine Corps

If you search "US-Taliban" peace deal, the first result is the US-Taliban permanent ceasefire that was signed in Feb 2020, Trump's "peace in the middle east". It paints a different picture than the narrative the media is pushing. Trump handed the country right back over to the Taliban, after all the efforts to remove them from power. But they want to blame it on Biden...I dont get it.

It sounds bad to hear we left $7 billion worth of equipment behind but whenever you leave a military conflict you don’t take everything with you. You just can’t afford to actually pack up all of that gear and put it on an airplane we couldn’t because as you get ready to leave you’re decreasing the radius of your presence giving those who might be adversaries with more land to surround you with when you leave you just leave whatever’s there is left there. Consider that we have an actually left a military engagement since Vietnam really. You could argue we left desert storm but even then guess what we didn’t bring all the equipment back with us. This is how you handle a military engagement especially one when you literally go thousands of miles from home to get there otherwise how would we have gotten all this equipment back it would’ve cost us billions of dollars to do so. It just wasn’t financially or logistically wise to do so and we left it

You realize logistics of being in Afghanistan was costing that much every 2-3 days. Spending 3-4x as much just to salvage old equipment, not to mention explaining to the troops why they have to stay and risk their lives over gear?? And it is true that whoever gets the equipment would need access to skilled maintenance techs and spare parts that they cannot buy from manufacturers so yeah, it's practically scrap metal. The obscenity of war comes from the totality of it. In a war that cost over 2 trillion, you're seriously going to "itemize" the pull out cost?? End it. That's all that matters. Freaking media is forever whining. Call me a hippie dreamer or whatever but the cost of ending a war is always cheaper than the cost of keeping it going, in every sense.

That’s why I kept telling people to vote for Hillary in 2016 whether or not she was their pristine pure perfect candidate. Three words: “Nuclear Launch Codes”. Always vote for the one least likely to use them on a whim or in a vengeful mood. Contrary to myth, the US system really is insane and the President does not have to consult with anybody. At one time, folks tried to make at least consultation with a representative group of Members of Congress required, the Pentagon insisted there would not be time for that. Making nuclear war inherently unConstitutional. Nuclear disarmament is not optional, it is mandatory but most people just don’t understand the weapons well enough to realize that. We have been saved from a few potential disasters only because some people around a deteriorating and unstable President did some illegal things to prevent him from launching. What are the chances that Trump had such people in his orbit? He fired the more rational and knowledgeable ones or was so exasperating that they ran screaming out of the White House. Trump was unstable from the very beginning. That’s why it was so irresponsible for GOP leadership not to just say “our guy is an unstable and dangerous idiot, vote for Hillary this one time, we’ll do better next time we promise”. Honestly, I’ve been voting for the lesser of two evils all my adult life and I was born when Truman was President. It’s a pretty simple concept. Don’t vote for the dumber one, don’t vote for the bigger crook, don’t vote for the one more likely to sell us out to a foreign power, and don’t vote for the one more likely to start WWIII. I have never been lock-step with any Presidential candidate I’ve voted for. You choose your battles and work on those issues of greatest importance to you.

That's what happens when you train the military but neglect to train the civil administration who is supposed to back that military and not steal from its budget. In the end this was just another one of the US' exercises in forced armed sales in service to the military industrial complex.
