Trump stops family separation, but continues ‘zero tolerance’

Amid public outcry over the thousands of migrant children separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to keep families together. Here’s a wrap-up of everything that led to this moment.
After losing his wife and infant daughter on the perilous journey from Guatemala to the U.S.-Mexico border, Lester Morales thought he’d be safe when he got to U.S. soil.
Then he got more bad news: His 3-year-old son, Jose Fernando, probably would be temporarily taken away from him as well as the result of a new U.S. policy.
“I didn’t know,” Morales said Tuesday after crossing the Rio Grande to enter the U.S. “We left so that my family could be safe. Not this.”
Hundreds of immigrant parents like Morales are crossing into the U.S. without proper authorization unaware that the process to seek asylum now also includes temporary loss of their children.
Last month, the Trump administration enacted its "zero tolerance” policy, under which nearly everyone crossing the border without authorization is charged with a federal misdemeanor. Under law, children entering the USA alongside adults fall under the Office of Refugee Resettlement's care while those criminal cases are pursued.
More than 2,300 children have been separated from their parents at the border as a result of the policy, creating a deepening crisis for the government on how to care for the children.

Aww poor babies😢. As a mom of young children this truly breaks my heart. No young child should ever be separated from their families, placed in shelters, locked in detention centers, or "resettled". This world is truly wicked.

Just remember one thing, there are lots of Americans living illegally in Mexico, nobody bothers them, they live a peaceful life and even have jobs and properties. I know the number of illegal Mexicans living in the U.S. is huge, but we are only asking Mr. Trump to not violate their Human Rights.

I just spent a half hour talking with, and bringing food to a homeless man who served our country in Afghanistan. His story made ME emotional. What are we doing to help OUR OWN PEOPLE? Have we gotten emotional over them? This man didn't break any laws. He served his country and was wounded in action. He grew up in our town and attended our schools. You've probably seen others like him in your town. We have GOT to get our priorities straight!!

So if you as an American citizen are arrested for drunk driving, and you have children, you will be separated from your children. If you commit crimes and felonies your children will be given over to social services.

Shouldn't these kids be sent back to their country of origin, and let that country house, feed, educate, them? It's not the fault of the US, that these people did something illegal. It's not the fault of the kids, but it IS the responsibility of the country they belong to, to handle this. They are THAT country's citizens.

Families should not be apart. Also, if you break the law and go to jail you may be separated from your family. If you break the law to enter the country, you ALSO be separated from your family. Don't break the law.

The family inside the house was able to call the police. The police immediately responded and apprehended the home invader. As they were placing the criminal into their squad car, one of the officers saw the kids standing by the house. They determined the kids belonged to the home invader. They immediately released the home invader and let him and his children depart. As everyone knows, families should not be separated The police officers than informed the family whose home had been violated, that they had to pay for the support of the invader and his kids.

Those children are suffering because their parents willingly chose to illegally come into the US. They’re parents fully knew the risk that they were putting their children in, that they might be separated. A government can not be blamed for incarcerating criminals. The parents and not the government must be held responsible.

If a parent were to kill somebody, they would be put in prison, thus separating children from their parents. Therefore, I propose we either stop putting murderers in jail, or just throw the kid in prison. At least they will still have each other, right?

I still think they should make a system of interviews where people can state their situation and they can be chosen to stay or leave. Only people with major crimes (murder or rape etc.) And people with none to few small crimes (driving without license, speeding, etc.) Can stay if they promise to join the military draft and obey the laws. That seems pretty fair to me.

So fucking sad😣 I couldn’t imagine myself as a small child looking for a place to have a better life and being separated from my mom and dad and possibly ending up in a foster home/shelter. Hell, I’m 15 and I still couldn’t imagine if that happened to me now, let alone these small children (some of them even infants). This is so fucked up😞

If a U.S. citizen breaks a law they are separated from their family and children. If a father and mother rob a bank and are caught they would be put in jail and if their children are under 18 and they cannot find a relative willing to take them in then "Child protective Services" will take them and put them in a foster home or intern facility until the parents are found not guilty or finish their jail sentence. Why would we give special treatment to non-U.S. citizens breaking our laws? This is not a law that was passed by a Republican, it was signed into law by BILL CLINTON in 1996.

Why are they criminals literally every single American, except for the natives, have come from other countries we are all immigrants only because some of us have different skin tones it doesn't make us criminals. And yes I know some who cross are not good people like Ms 13 but we have to learn to differentiate them from the innocent ones who come looking for a better life.
