I'm white - Irish, German, Swiss background. My parents also taught me that if you get pulled over, to put your hands on the dash and to tell the officer every movement you were planning to make - for example, "Sir (or ma'am), I can get you my registration and insurance but it's in my glove box. Can I reach over and get those out for you?" It's not just respecting them as human beings, but respecting police officers as people who could get seriously injured or killed by someone trying to conceal their hands during a routine traffic stop.

My parents are now U.S citizens from Mexico. I was born in the U.S. One day my uncle asked me " do you consider yourself a Mexican " ? I said yes! He answered back " you are not Mexican, you were born in the U.S you are an American"

Lol my dad grew up in a family of 8 kids and grew up in the Bronx poor as dirt and he had to work since he was like 9 years old. Then he went to Vietnam and then worked his butt off in ups for 35 years and had 4 hernia repairs on the way. He was able to come up and pull himself out of the hole. The young lady clinging to imagined oppression instead of being inspired by her hard working mother makes me incredibly sad. She proved the speaker's point and refused to come to terms with it.
