Pedal tones have many benefits. Trumpet players that practice pedal tones may notice that it is easier to play in the upper register. So essentially, you're extending your trumpet range on both ends.
The reason this happens is due to the fact that you're really learning how to play trumpet in a relaxed way, which also helps to improve your endurance.
All of these benefits make it an incredible trumpet method to know.
During this lesson, Chris will teach multiple ways that you may approach learning how to play pedal tones on trumpet. You'll also be able to ask Chris any questions you may have and get personalized feedback on your playing if you leave a comment below.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to improve your trumpet playing. This lesson is sure to be informative, engaging and beneficial to any trumpet player. So press play and get ready to take your trumpet playing to the next level with Chris's lesson on pedal tones!

All of them! They are all a little different & give you a wide range (pardon the pun) of embouchure exercise.

I play pedals straight down the scale to G below double pedal C....I always end a practice session going down to double pedal C to relax my chops...Yes, pedal C to A below pedal C are fuzzy, then G on down to double pedal C and below are big and bold...like your lip bending comments--great for part of my warm-up routine...Oh, and as I mentioned a while back, we both play the same horn--I love it!!

@@ChrisDavisTrumpet No, I bought it here in San Antonio at the Texas Music Educators Assn. (TMEA) convention. Edwards was a vendor...stopped by their booth to ask about repairs for my 20+ yr old Edwards...showed me their new X-13...played one scale and was hooked!! As for good taste, you obviously know a good thing when you see/play it!!

If u guys are wondering why he has a hair tie on his trumpet it is because the third valve slide as a screw so it doesn't slide off and he probably lost it or something like that so he put a hair tie so it won't fall while he is playing

Thanks Chris, this is a great clip and will definitely help me with air support, control and even help my aperture. Currently, I have a challenge with free buzzing without mpc.

Try the pencil technique. Put a pencil in your aperture and try to keep the end up as long as possible. This will strengthen your corners like nothing else

You sound great and your explanation and demonstration are clear, but Chris... why Pedal Tones? Why? Does playing and practicing out Pedal Tones serve as an aid or technique to teach us something or improve or illiminate some aspect of our trumpet playing?
@ChrisDavisTrumpet
@ChrisDavisTrumpet 11 ай бұрын
Yes it does. In short, it keeps you balanced. It keeps the face relaxed and helps to improve endurance, and these things collectively can help improve range on both ends. It’s not the only way but it is a way.
