@eastonarnett20506 ай бұрын
@@treesquirrel3995 That can be useful advice. Generally staccato notes do not have to be "disconnected". Instead they are connected by one constant flow of air, just stopped by the tongue. They could be disconnected, or they could be connected by air, in which case, you should avoid articulating by stopping your breath and starting it again for the next note unless you really need to take a breath there.

Staccatos can be played in very different ways, especially in classical music. It depends on what style you are playing and the composers intention. You can play them super short, or more connected in the context of a phrase. Not as dumb as it sounds. Staccato doesn’t mean short, it means separated.
@Ambarrabma3 ай бұрын
that’s what they said. They asked if they wanted them more connected or more separated. Which is obviously a stupid question.

@@Ambarrabma If you play classical music, then you should know it’s not a dumb question. Even in other styles of music this applies. Staccatos will always be played differently, there isn’t a “set way” you should play them. The way you play staccato in a romantic era waltz will definitely be different than baroque. Staccatos in classical will especially be different than staccatos in jazz.

@@saxophonerman1239 yeah idk who liked ur comment because that still doesn’t prove anything. They can be played differently, sure, but staccato notes will never be played connected and will always be separated in one way or another.
