Hey brother, when using collated tikos and your hammer, bend the nail sideways partially tearing the paper, then put the head of the nail in the hanger hole and tap with your hammer (tearing paper fully), then sink it. You don't have to tear it off, and don't have to put down your hammer, and your fingers are safely away.
