When a child is born, they cry out of fear of leaving their comfortable world, and only a mother's comfort can soothe them. We fear being alone because solitude makes us uneasy; we fear walking in the dark because it seems to hide terrifying shadows; we fear losing loved ones because it causes us unbearable pain; we fear being late for work because of the boss's reprimand; we fear friends getting too close because trust has been broken before; we fear rejection because past refusals have left deep scars. Social anxiety makes us fear talking to strangers, and fear becomes our greatest enemy. Fear makes people reclusive; from children to adults, everyone faces different fears: children fear failing exams, adults fear confessing love, afraid to express affection; girls fear gaining weight, people in the workplace fear poor performance and being looked down upon, and the elderly fear illnesses that are hard to treat. In short, fear is everywhere, permeating our lives.
