❤️How to Blend Essential Oils FREE class! www.aromahead.com/how-to-blen...
This is a recipe for a solid perfume. This base is made of beeswax and jojoba wax. Once you learn to make the base, you can add any essential oils you like to create your own blends.
🌹 SUBSCRIBE bit.ly/3xF03c3
and click on the 🔔 to be notified whenever we offer a new video
This recipe comes from my book, Essential Living: Aromatherapy Recipes for Health and Home. www.aromatics.com/products/bo...
You’ll find more essential oil blend suggestions for this perfume in the book, but the base remains the same.
🌼 RECIPE:
Melt using the double boiler method (a Pyrex measuring cup in a pot):
1 oz (28 gm) Beeswax (Cera alba) (1:35)
3 oz (90 ml) Jojoba wax (Simmondsia chinensis) (2:45)
*******
Once your waxes are all melted, you can add your essential oils right into the blend:
5 drops Cypress essential oil (Cupressus sempervirens) (6:25)
6 drops Juniper Berry essential oil (Juniperus communis) (7:02)
6 drops Vintage Patchouli essential oil (Pogostemom cablin) (7:40)
Pour your blend into three or four 1 oz (30 ml) solid perfume tins (I get them from Aromatics International www.aromatics.com/products/al... ). You may even be able to fill five! Place the cap over the tin after you pour, so the essential oils don’t evaporate.
🌈 Note: If you want the essential oil aroma to be more pronounced, you can double or even triple the drops for this blend. Smell it as you make it, and increase the drops before you pour the hot liquid into the tins.
Enjoy!

Hi Andrea. This looks so much fun to make. If I calculate corretly, that's 3 part of carrier oil to 1 part of beeswax, right? And I notice that the essential oils are less than 1%. Usually some other non-aromaterapist youtubers, can put in up to 5% eo. Is it because of the eo you choose have strong smells already and we need not to put much? Thank you!
@aromatherapyoils
@aromatherapyoils 4 жыл бұрын
Hello! Yes, you are correct- we are using a 3:1 ratio of carriers oils to Beeswax in this recipe. For a softer consistency, you could use a 4:1 ratio. When it comes to the number of essential oils we used, we found that 17 drops was perfect to bring balance and harmony in the blend. A little bit really does go a long way when blending with these potent oils. It's a personal preference though, and if you would like the aroma to be more pronounced, you cold safely double or triple the drops in this blend. 💜

Hi Andrea, I always love your videos, thank you! I wonder if you might have some suggestions for me. I have tried several of the solid perfumes and am about to give up! I follow the recipes exactly, weighing by the gram, and the aroma of the beeswax consistently is the overwhelming aroma I can smell, with the E.O.s fighting to come through. Is there another product that can be substituted for beeswax that doesn't have such a strong odor?
@aromatherapyoils
@aromatherapyoils 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda! It's wonderful to hear that you've been working with the solid perfume recipes. We hope you don't give up! 💜 There are a couple of other waxes that you can try using instead of Beeswax if you don't care for the aroma. Carnauba wax or candelilla wax are good options to replace beeswax (and they're vegan!). They’re different than beeswax though, so be aware of that when you’re blending. We don’t have much experience with either, so we can't advise you on the amounts. You could look up recipes to see how you might adjust the amount and experiment a little with it to get the consistency and texture you’re after. You can find carnauba wax at Mountain Rose Herbs: www.mountainroseherbs.com/catalog/ingredients/waxes Hope this helps 💜

Yes, this blend would be lovely to use in a roller bottle using Jojoba as the carrier. Great idea! We would suggest using 10-12 drops of essential oil in 1 ounce of Jojoba. You could try: 3 drops Cypress essential oil (Cupressus sempervirens) 4 drops Juniper Berry essential oil (Juniperus communis) 4 drops Vintage Patchouli essential oil (Pogostemom cablin) We'd love to hear how it goes if you try it! 💜

Hello Andrea, Thank you for this great tutorial. I would like to know if I could swap coconut oil, shea butter and or grapeseed oil for the jojoba?
@aromatherapyoils
@aromatherapyoils 5 жыл бұрын
Weneal Towns yes you could although the aroma of coconut oil and shea will present themselves and you'll need to be mindful of the short shelf life (especially with grapeseed oil). Some the things I love about Jojoba is that it doesn’t have much scent so it doesn’t alter the aroma of the essential oils you blend into it, and there is no concern of shelf life, where all other carrier oils will have a limited shelf life.

I have made a few linen / pillow sprays from different sites and all those sites also say to add small amounts of witch hazel / vodka / alcohol to help in mixing the essen. oils w/ the distilled water. I want to try your spray but did not see any mention of witch hazel / alcohol / vodka ~ just asking why. thanks

Great question! The Aromahead Approach is to make products without preservatives and simply make them fresh as needed (with water-based products, that would be every 2-3 weeks). Of course if you are selling water-based products you would need to use a preservative. Hope this helps to clarify! 💜

Beautiful recipe. May I ask a couple of questions? Can we increase the amount of essential oils more than times three (x3) of the original recipe? I made this today, and it is still not as strong as I would like it. What’s the maximum we can go on this safely? Can we reheat the perfume to make adjustments on the essential oils? Will that ruin our pre existing oils in the perfume? Thank you so much.
@aromatherapyoils
@aromatherapyoils Жыл бұрын
Hi Anth! Yes, it would be safe to multiply the amount of oils in this recipe by 3 in order to get the desired aroma. Reheating the recipe just until everything has melted and adding additional essential oils will not harm the existing oils. Essential oils can be heated for brief periods of time while you mix your blend with no damage to their therapeutic properties. The product will actually cool down really fast. Add your essential oils right after taking the melted butter off the stove (just before pouring it into your jars), and your blend will be fine. Be sure to cover the jars right away, so the essential oils don’t evaporate. Hope this helps! 💜

@@aromatherapyoils Thank you for your reply. I was actually asking if we can go more than three times the recipe; like maybe 4 or 5 times. I still find the aroma not strong enough with the times three. Thank you.

@aromatherapyoils 5 жыл бұрын
LasVegasSpa Girl, I don't have any experience with a scent that emulates the aroma of tobacco. I guess you could always try to place tobacco in some jojoba oil and allow it to set for a few weeks to see if you could pull the aroma out of the dried plant material.

Hi Denise! Essential oils can be heated for brief periods of time while you mix your blend with no damage to their therapeutic properties. The carriers actually cool down really fast. It’s when the oils are heated for a prolonged period - like being left in a hot car all day - that is damaging. Hope this helps 💜

Andrea, with the hot melted wax off the stove, will the heat of this change the effects of the individual Essential Oils, or are we mostly just doing this for the smells? I was also wondering if this was super hard once cooled, or a little softer. thanx bunches!

@aromatherapyoils
@aromatherapyoils 5 жыл бұрын
You'll want to only heat the jojoba and beeswax until it is fully melted, not super hot. Adding the essential oils to the warmed mix will not effect the aroma but some of the oil may evaporate during the process. The consistency will be firm but not too hard, Debora Cadene.

@aromatherapyoils
@aromatherapyoils 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Garima Rastogi rastogi! If you want the essential oil aroma to be more pronounced, you can double the amount of essential oils and see how that goes. If you still prefer a stronger aroma, you can use tripe the essential oils. The number of drops is a personal preference 😁 Essential oils that are earthy, herbaceous, woody, spicy, and citrusy are popular with men. Some men enjoy Black Pepper, Cedarwood, Cypress, Ginger, Patchouli, Vetiver while others enjoy the aroma of some of the florals, particularly Lavender, Neroli and Jasmine.

Cypress blended in a carrier oil would be lovely to use as a perfume, if it's an aroma that you enjoy and feel connected to. 💜 You could try 10-12 drops of Cypress in 1oz of Jojoba, or any of your favorite carrier oils. It could also be nice to add other oils, such as the ones used in this Woodsy Perfume Blend.
