We have a new spiritual guru and guide on the block: Baba Bageshwar Dham. He is like any other babas: he claims he can heal people and gives them strange, quick solutions to people’s problems
He is even known to read people’s minds and offer them a way out of their miseries without the people even telling him anything.
One organization from Maharashtra decided to challenge this. They asked the baba to perform the miracle of mind reading on 10 people of their choice. What the Baba did was pretty predictable. He cut short his visit to Maharashtra and ran away
He was also in news for not allowing a person from a lower caste to touch his feet
But despite such problematic streaks, the baba is still very popular among the people. The same could be seen in the cases of earlier babas like Ram Rahim and Asaram Bapu
So, why is it that Indians regularly flock to these babas- and they don’t seem to care about their wrongdoings?

I liked the way he explained...I don't believe much in bageshwar dham baba and not even hate him...but my mother do believe in him....we certainly had a debate with no conclusion...but after watching this video, I can understand now both the perspectives....It is important to have a guru but not with superstition...but with spiritual energy...thanks for covering that topic ❤

As a right leaning person, I am glad that you are making videos on such topics, these babas have a lot of followers even educated people as well. But as they say, 'you can sell anything in the name of religion'. I know many people with similar political opinions as mine and they support this baba only because he is an extremist. Babas just ruins the image of religion nothing else. edit: here babas means babas from all the religions be it Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism etc. And I am only talkin about fake babas who end up ruining image of the religion, there are many legit babas who are pure brahmachari and do samadhi. I respect them. Im against those babas who can cure AIDS with songs, who take money for prayer, who justifies rapes, who teach terrorism etc.

OMG just few hours before I had a little fight with my mom on the topic bagheshwar baba as she is blindly follows him and his speaking, I just tried to educate her on this andhvishwas and in return she screams so loud at me and said " kisi baba k bare m esa ni bolte paap pdega maafi mango and all" but I know this was not only single case in India there are many more families who are going through this what I had experienced a couple of hours before... From my point of view if baba, father, molana etc are giving you solution that you should recite surah/ayat or mantra or Bible verses do that there's no harm in them. I knew two Sikh individuals years ago. We lived in the same hostel as me. This ramgarhia Sikh gut was discriminated by this other Jat Sikh. This baba had come in my city in fact literally at my neighbour's house. Our neighbour is a well known politician in our city. Clearly, both looked for their own benefit. Now the baba has a lot of "supporters' which in turn wins all the "bhakts" confidence in the politician, hence, more votes. And you never know how much money the baba asked from this politician to make him "popular", because this politician is mad rich. The baba was here for a few days, tight security in our area. 3-4 huge police vans everyday. Ton of cars parked in front of our gate. Literally you need to get an appointment for which you need to scan the QR code first. It was a chaos. Car horns, police siren at 3am. We couldn't sleep at all. Every morning me and my dad looked at these people coming in to meet the baba and pity them. Jab tak iss desh mai andvishwas khatam nahi hoga tab tak isi tarah ke baba humse fayda uthate rahenge

One more thing I would like to point out is Babas and their team works like an undercover PR agency. Politicians, bollywood starts and businesses go there to socialize with each other and build public relations in between eachother. Good video.. 🤝 One more reason why people follow gurus like Aniruddhacharya and Bagheshwar dham sarkaar is : They do 'satsang' or 'Bhagwat katha’ in which mainly their 60-70% words are taken from the hindu🕉️ scriptures (Vedas,Upanishad or shrimad bhagwat). People consider the teaching of these scriptures as the truth of life and they feel relief from stress,anxiety for some time.. Their other 30-40% words contains their own thoughts and beliefs which may or may not be good for society. My opinion on kathas and satsang : If anyone gets satisfaction after listening to those kathas, it's their choice and they are free to listen and learn from it. But It can be dangerous for them if they listen to it from an untrusted, uneducated or biased person...

When he says that he was not rich enough to make the hospital so he only gave what he could give which is mental boost. Now he got some money so making hospital. And many of his followers come after showing to doctors. They have nothing to lose they come for that and he give that. It's a ecosystem we are not a part of that so better not criticize it , if it is not affecting anyone. This youtubers are definitely creating controversy and fight between families and friends by making propaganda videos

The problem is with the lack of knowledge as well. I've watched a little longer of the bit where he says "hum achoot hai". People who have lived a legit traditional life will be able to relate to this as "Madi" (in kannada, not sure what it is called in other langs). For instance, we've got a shaligram in our house and until my dad is done with the pooji/rituals related to it, we don't touch him. He doesn't touch us either. The panchi or dhoti he wears isn't touched either. We can make plenty of videos calling out superstitions and stuff but we've failed in understanding the vastness of "sampradayas". People don't want to be educated on this either. Instead, living in ignorance and denial has been bliss. Take another example - when I enter a raghavendra matha (or mutt), there are some swamis that are untouchable. Not just by outsiders of the matha but none can touch them. If you ask why a swami shouldn't be touched, you'll hear "madi" or "made" as the answer. These are people undergoing a certain ritual and would act within its limits until it is done.

Social identity helps humans feel they belong and becomes their pride/core of their persona. People with weaker personal identity often have a strong social identity as it helps them fit in and often react violently when their social identity is ridiculed or questioned. It’s not surprising people attack others when questioned about god or religion or country or leaders as to them it feels like a personal attack. They can’t decouple personal and social identity. Cults/Brands that target social identity tend to have higher gross margins.
