Calgary is a great city but they have been talking about the high speed rail to Edmonton for the last 30 years and nothing has happened. you also forgot to mention the crazy price hikes in rents due to out of town investors buying up all the affordable housing and jacking rents to make a fast buck. we are heading in the wrong direction where that is concerned.. I know of people that have moved to calgary only to find they can not afford to live here, they move to airdrie and cochrane where it's a little cheaper. yes we are cheaper than Toronto and Vancouver but the greed in this city will be our downfall if we dont encourage the young to stay here and make this their life home. I have 2 boys one is moving to Japan and the other to Finland both are well educated and in the tech world, and both can not afford to live in calgary. we need to address the issues of keeping the young here other wise calgary just becomes an over priced retirement home.

Hold on question so I was looking at prices for a bachelors apartment in Edmonton and it was something like 950 and in Calgary the average price roughly I was around $1300 but if you’re patient and keep looking you could find something for 1100 which isn’t bad but I I even besides that the purchasing powers better than Edmonton but couldn’t you if you make more money let’s say you’re in a good position tech like your sons are couldn’t you offset that cost differenceotherwise the only best option in Canada in Alberta would be Edmonton I guess

Hey, I'm currently living in England but i have a polish passport, how hard would the process of moving to calgary be ? and how much money should i have saved up before going there to look for a job etc

Hi Kilcio, I would say prioritize on looking for a job before even making the move. The would help a lot with your paperwork as well. Besides that 3-6 months of living expensive is always important and if you’re looking to buy a house 5% to 20% down payment depending on a few important factors Would be happy to chat further in private!

@@alphagroups Absolutely, However, Im only 18 and im planning to move when im 21/22 so i've got plenty of time to save up etc but i am seriously considering the move

how can people not know about the drive...? driving changes everywhere when a city grows is there a point?

The more roads you build the more traffic there will be very simple. the city does not like extra roads, they get federal money to build them then after 15 years the city now has to maintain them at our cost. they do this by increasing tax base with extra subdivisions to fill the pockets of greedy billionaires investors, and then you guessed it more roads are needed and so on it goes.
